The house is now a museum and contains many of his personal belongings, as well as his famed Triumphant Carriage. A diving and sailing school is located at Derrynane Harbour. The area is a walkers paradise with a long walking trail, The Kerry Way, to the north of the village and many other shorter routes along seashore and old paths.
