Description of objectCasa do Regresso is a building from the beginning of the 20th century totally remodelated.The house is very comfortable, furnished with refinement with some antique furniture and it is composed by: Ground floor: dinning/sitting room with fireplace; fully equipped kitchen; toilet; First floor: small library/reception; 3 twins bedrooms, being one with private bath and one common bath for the two rooms; Attic: 1 double bedroom with private bath. It is surrounded by a small farm, including gardens, orchads and agriculture products, being same at clients'disposal, free of charge. In the garden there is a portable barbecue, as well as chairs and table. Location of objectCasa do Regresso is located in an area of rare beauty, overlooking mountains where indigenous and endemic plants grow side by side.Town: Portugal, São Vicente, São VicenteSão Vicente is a pleasant village located on the north coast of Madeira Island and it is composed by the parishes of São Vicente, Ponta Delgada and Boaventura.The origin of the name “São Vicente” (St. Vicent) has aroused many theories, but all of them seem to be related to this saint. Cobbled streets, beautiful churches and exuberant landscapes make this village one of the most attractive on the island. PLACES OF INTEREST: - Grutas e Centro do Vulcanismo de São Vicente (Caves and Volcanism Centre of São Vicente) - This caves were formed by a volcanic eruption 890 000 years ago. The 8 volcanic tunnels extend for a distance of more than 1000 metres, with maximum heights varying between 5 and 6 metres. There are also 3 galleries where visitors have the possibility to see volcanic stalactites, lava flows, accumulations of lava or “lava cakes” and “errant block”. At the Volcanism Centre (next to the caves) visitors can watch audiovisual shows that recreate the geological evolution of the caves, the eruption of a volcano and a simulation of the creation of the Madeira Archipelago. These caves are the best underground lava channels ever found in Madeira. Visiting the Caves and the Volcanism Centre of São Vicente is like a “Journey to the Interior of the Earth”. - Chapel of São Vicente - This chapel is the ex-libris of São Vicente. It was built in the 17th century, inside a small basalt cave, at the mouth of the stream. This small chapel was erected in the place where traditionally the image of Saint Vicente appeared. - São Vicente Mother Church - This church, located in the centre of the village, was built in the 17th century in memory of Saint Vicent. It has magnificent ceiling paintings. -Chapel of Livramento - A mannerist church from the late 17th century. - Chapel of Pico da Cova or Chapel of Torre do Relógio - It is devoted to Our Lady of Fátima and was built in the 20th century. With a 14 metre high chapel tower, this local offers wonderful views over São Vicente village. - Senhor Bom Jesus Church (in Ponta Delgada) - Built in 16th century. - Dr.Horácio Bento de Gouveia House-Musem (in Ponta Delgada)- This building was built between the 17th and 18th centuries in the typical Madeiran civil style. It was in this house that Dr.Horácio Bento de Gouveia (teacher, jornalist and writer) was born. - Velhos Encantos (in Ponta Delgada) - Museum and tea house with several art collections. - Núcleo Museologico – Rota da Cal (Museum Centre – The Lime Route)- In this centre, with an area of about 12 000 m2, there are 2 limestone quarries, a lime kiln, a variety of marine fossils (found here when limestone was extracted and others constructions used to support this activity.
