Description of objectThis terraced house has a spectacular view over the enchanting Monte Cofano gulf.Ideally located at less than 10 minutes drive (5 km) from the lively town and vibrant, stunning golden beaches of San Vito Lo Capo and at just a stone’s throw from the peaceful small bays and more laid back beaches of Monte Cofano Nature Reserve. Both suitable for families and couples, for sandy beaches lovers and for those who enjoy snorkelling or fishing along one of the most beautiful coast lines in Western Sicily. Only 15 km away from the northern entrance of the breathtaking Zingaro Nature Reserve with its dramatic costal paths overlooking the transparent turquoise waters and the enchanting little white pebbled coves immersed in a pristine natural Mediterranean environment (www.riservazingaro.it) A few suggested day trips : Erice, (less then 1h drive) the exquisite medieval walled hilltop town with its narrow streets of cobbled stones, baroque balconies and secrets courtyards. The marzipan cakes and almond biscuits from Maria Grammatico’s Pasticceria are not to be missed. Trapani the town where the Arab influence is still particulary felt and where you can taste the famous and delicious fish couscous. From Trapani port there are daily connections to the Egadi Islands. Salt pans between Trapani and Marsala (www.wwfsalineditrapani.it), the views across the shallow salt pans and the old wind mills are not to be missed at sun set. From there a fisherman’s boat will take you to the ancient Punic site of Mozia The islands of Favignana and Levanzo are also easily accessible from Trapani port (only 20 minutes away from mainland on the hydrofoil); connections are very frequent and during peak season there are also connections directly from San Vito port. Day trip on sailing boat: upon request (mariel.damato@gmail.com) , Casina a Ponente can also offer you an unforgettable day at sea on a fully crewed 14 mt sailing boat. You will experience swimming away from the crowds in the most breathtaking little coves and inlets along the coast, enjoying the famous Sicilian delicatessen on board and quietly sailing towards the sunset while sipping a glass of chilled white wine, strictly Sicilian of course. Departure from San Vito Lo Capo harbour. Note that even though Monte Cofano beaches and coves are only 200 mt away from the house, it is recommended to have your own transport. There is a free parking lot just opposite the main beach and in peak season a little train connects all the small coves along the coast of Monte Cofano Nature Reserve. The service is free and very frequent. How to reach Casina a Ponente: From Palermo airport (Falcone-Borsellino) take the A29 motorway direction Mazara del Vallo, get off at Castellammare del Golfo and follow the signs to San Vito Lo Capo. After the small village of Castelluzzo stay on the SP 16 road for about 3 km and take the second turning to the right after the second sign to Macari; take the first road on the right again (Via del Mandarino) and follow the street keeping to the right, towards a group of terraced houses facing the sea. Casina a Ponente is in the second block of houses, the one in the centre. From Trapani airport (Birgi) follow the signs for A29 motorway direction Trapani, then follow the signs to San Vito Lo Capo and finally the same instructions as above.
