Description of objectOne of the most spectacular views for Douro Valley, Quinta de Lamelas is a quiet and peaceful place, perfect for a restful holiday.Quinta de Lamelas is located in the upper Douro Valley region, one of the most unspoilt areas in Portugal, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The house is part of a 135 acres vineyard property, Quinta de La Rosa, owned by a family that has been shipping Port Wine since 1815. Lamelas is situated amongst high vineyards, olive groves and almond trees at the top of our property. It has one of the most spectacular views in the Douro valley and is in a remote and tranquil setting. The house dates from the 17th Century and was restored to the highest standard in 1992 with many original features being retained. Accommodation consists of a double sitting room, with carved and painted ceilings, dining room, two twin bedrooms and one double bedroom, all having en-suite bathrooms/shower rooms and a large fully equipped kitchen. The swimming pool looks over the Douro Valley and is surrounded by terraces on one which there is a barbeque. During your stay, join us at La Rosa for the tour and wine tastings or have a meal, upon on previous request, on our terrace overlooking the river. Sleeps 6 persons, self catering. Change Over date Saturday. Location of objectDIRECTIONS FROM AIRPORT IN OPORTO TO QUINTA LAMELASFollow road out of the airport, signed to Maia, Braga etc. Keep straight on for about 8 km until you see a large blue sign: PORT, VILA REAL A3 to right. TAKE THIS. DO NOT TAKE the sign to BRAGA which is also a large blue sign JUST before the one to Porto & Vila Real. You are now on the Motorway. Keep straight on following signs for A4 Vial Real (bearing right where indicated). There is a dangerous moment when the slip road off the A3 leading to the A4 (signposted to Vila Real) merges into the fast lane of the A4. Beware! Toll motorway continues until Amarante where you pay up to 5 Euros depending on the size of the vehicle. Continue on same road to Vila Real (signed Braganca, Vila Real). Do not turn off at Vila Real (Centro) but exit at sign Vila Real (Norte). Follow the slip road on the right to the roundabout and then come off left fully around the roundabout. Then over a series of roundabouts down the hill for 400m until at the last one you see large sign to the left to SABROSA. Follow sign for Sabrosa until you see a turning left, marked Pinhao and Palacio de Mateus. Pinhao is about 45 minutes drive further on. Signed all the way. Sharp right turn in Sabrosa (by the Police Station) marked Pinhao. At bottom of HILL 1 km before Pinhao, sign to the right saying Quinta Lamelas and Quinta de la Rosa to the left. Turn sharp right and up the hill to small village of Gouvaes. Follow signs to Lamelas through village. There is I km of unmade road from leaving Gouvaes until you reach Lamelas. Town: Portugal, Douro, GouvãesLamelas stays on the top of a small village called Gouvães (20 minutes by car from Pinhão).Gouvães is a traditional village with a privileged landscape to some of the most emblematic quintas in the region. The village has elements of interest and worth a visit, particularly the classified pillory, the recently restored fountain, several stately houses and a church of the century XVII.
