Description of objectOur small, but traditional, venetian town house is located right in the heart of Chanias Old Town, just one minute walk from the famous Venetian Harbour with its lighthouse entrance. The house has one spacious double bedroom with small balcony accessed by two venetian style windows. Downstairs is the living, dining and kitchen area, together with the bathroom. The house has all its original Cretan features, with wooden floors & ceilings, wooden stairs, and traditional windows & doors. Downstairs there is a third bed option available for children.
Location of objectThe house is located in Chania Old Town, on the street called Gavaladon. This is located off the street named Sifaka where the traditional Cretan Knife makers sell their goods. The main street to the harbour called Halidon is just 30 seconds from the house, and the harbour with its restaurants and bars is just one minute away. The surrounding areas of the house are called Kasteli and Splantzia. These areas are still very traditional, and are frequented by residents as well as visitors to Chania. Many tavernas and ouzeries are to be found on the street corners, serving traditional Cretan food and drink.

The many narrow streets provide a fantastic backdrop for the bars & tavernas that can be found on every corner, as well as the numerous boutique style shops that open late into the evening.
The Venetian Harbour is home to water front restaurants and day trip boats, whereas the smaller inner harbour, backed by the Splantzia area of the Old Town, is home to the small fishing vessels of the local community alongside visiting private yachts & cruisers.
Away from the shoreline is the modern shopping & commercial area of Chania providing everything necessary for visitors & residents alike.
Outside the centre of Chania, there are beaches and remote natural peninsulas that provide peace and relaxation. Beaches that are accessible by foot and by car take you west out of the centre. Further afield you can explore the natural beauty of the White Mountains (The Lefka Ori) or the Gramvousa Peninsula. Visit the small harbour towns of Kissamos & Kolymbari, or venture down Europe’s largest Gorge – The Samaria. Take yourself to the South West corner of Crete and visit the coastal towns of Paleochora & Sougia where the Lybian sea laps the shoreline, and the pace of life is gentle & quiet.
