Description of object“The House by the Sea” - a country house in a lovely quiet position situated behind the middle of Chrissi Akti Beach near Chania. From most of the spacious rooms in the house there are panoramic views across the sea to the small island of Lazaretta and the town of Chania. The traditional main building, just 10m from the beach, one of the oldest in the area, has been carefully renovated to preserve its character.There are two independent houses with a shared courtyard and garden Both houses are furnished and decorated with style and good taste and have a designer look. The prospect of a totally relaxing holiday in Crete close to nature is completed by the beach, patio and garden. Sea view house (120 sq.m, 10 stairs up, sleeps 5 (+2). Three bedrooms offer plenty of light and an airy atmosphere with most of the rooms boasting views of the sea and the garden. Interiors are large, light and spacious with furnishings displaying a mix of traditional Greek and modern facilities. The lovely sitting room has a large bay window seat to take advantage of the sandy beach and sea view. The entrance leads to the dining room and living room, equipped with a fireplace, which adds an antique touch to the otherwise modernized house. Thick stone walls provide an authentic backdrop whilst keeping the house cool during the warm summer months. Outside, a sun lounge area overlooks the beautiful sandy beach, the ideal place to enjoy warm summer afternoons. There are two verandas with excellent view. The Sitting / Dining Room A lovely bright spacious room with a large bay window offering stunning views out to the sea/garden/ countryside/ Chania town, with two sitting areas, fireplace and the dining area. (It also features a double sofa-bed. TV, DVD player, video and CD/radio). A classic cosy dining room with eight comfortable dining table seats. The Kitchen Fully equipped modern light kitchen with all appliances for a comfortable stay (refrigerator, electric oven and ceramic hob, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, dishwasher, and independent heating system for the winter.) Our garden - 1000 m2 A pretty garden including an enclosed area, with lovely flowering plants. For families with children the garden offers an unique safe environment due to the closed fences around the property. Everywhere you turn there is a careful attention to detail that provides a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Also provided are hammocks, cribs, table-tennis, rackets, and seating corners to relax in the shade. Garden view house (100 sq.m, 8 stairs down, sleeps 4 (+2). The lovely living room and the bedrooms have windows with a garden view. The house has a bathroom, open plan kitchen and private parking. For those loving the mountains there is on 15 klm to the wonderful mountain area of for example Therisso Gorge. The surroundings offer all someone could wish, from lovely beaches to amazing mountains, from modern beach life to old historical places, all reachable in not more than 20 minutes. Getting there: Located very close to Chania with easy access on foot (30 min), by bus (10 min), taxi and car (7 min without traffic). Chrissi Akti is a convenient area: the seasonal residence is located 5 minutes from the highway Chania - Heraklion, Chania - Kissamos. Head for the Lefka Ori Mountains to walk down some of its dozen limestone gorges – of which Samaria Gorge is the longest, best-known and most spectacular. Follow rugged coastal paths along the south coast and visit the laid back coastal resorts of Paleochora, Sougia, Sfakia and Elafonissi. Take leisure drives through the countryside, dotted with picturesque villages, farming land, chapels and scattered ruins. CateringCatering: Self catered (extra)Additional InformationChrissi Akti (2,5 km-1,24 mi far from Chania at the West) : “The House by the Sea” is located directly in front of the majestic Chrissi Akti Beach on the north side of Crete. The idyllic beauty of Chrissi Akti Beach is known by all. The beach has Blue Flag for many years. Stretching for over one kilometre, Chrissi Akti is blessed with pure and natural golden sand. The water is shallow so it is safe for children. The island in the middle is visible from a great distance and it can be visited by boat. Chrissi Akti is an convenient area, 7 minutes' drive from the centre of Chania (a town that stays alive even in winter), where you can enjoy a rich night life, good food, shops and marketplaces and you can find pretty cobbled Venetian streets lined with shops. A 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the house, there are great restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets ranging from those providing local cuisine to the more international choices. Walking 300m up the beach heading west, you arrive at Agioi Apostoloi nature area where you find two sandy beaches, a park with a playground, a small forest of pines for walking, jogging, and picnics. Also there are family restaurants, big & small supermarkets, and tourist and car rental offices in the surrounding area. Many other beautiful beaches are around, such as Glaros, Aptera and Kalamaki. It’s a good base if you want to be close to town without being in it. It’s also very useful if you have children (the beaches are safer than most beaches on the northwest coast). The beach is a sandy cove with clear water, well organised, with canteens on the beach as well as facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas, sea sports etc). Informal volleyball games can also be played in the afternoons and body surfing and windsurfing atop the waves is possible. During the summer season a lifeguard is on duty.
