Description of objectCooked Lake Cottage is everything you would hope for. This secluded, 17th century stone cottage is tucked away in the heart of beautiful Devon countryside, yet only 15 minutes from the bustling North Devon town of Bideford and glorious North Devon beaches.
The deceptively spacious cottage offers a dining-room, lounge, conservatory and kitchen in separate rooms on the ground floor. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, one master en-suite a twin and a single bedroom and a large family bathroom. Both bathrooms have bath and shower facilities.
The cottage is full of quaint original features, like the pretty shutters with cut-out heart shapes. With storage heaters in every room it offers a warm and cosy winter retreat, as well as a summer holiday location.
Outside there is plenty of space in the beautiful gardens with terraces, flower beds and sloping lawns complete with a babbling stream crossed by stone and wooden bridges. There is a host of local wild-life; four and two legged, that regularly visit the garden from the adjoining wood.
Goshawks, Nuthatches and woodpeckers are natural residents of this area. Badgers and deer can be seen from time to time from the garden
Location of objectCrooked Lake lies mid way between Bideford and the historic North Devon fishing village of Clovelly. Local beaches and many family attractions such as The Big Sheep and The Milky Way are within easy reach, as are many beautiful beaches and coves from the surfing sands of Northam Burrows to the rocky shores of Buck's Mills and Peppercombe.
Town: Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Devon, BidefordParkham is a small hilltop village close to the North Devon coast, overlooking the valley in which Crooked Lake nestles.
The quaint, village has a pub, ancient church and small shop.
The main , Bideford is one of Devon\'s historic ports. Fish are still landed at the harbour and sold on the Quayside. It is also the embarkation point for day trips to Lundy Island and a good spot to hire bicycles and explore the scenic Tarka Trail along miles of old railway line following the Taw and Torridge rivers.
