by Linda on 21.01.2015 There are many things in the announcement that you don\'t find in realitiy: There are two houses at the compound. In the moment only the big house is free for rent. The small house in the compound is permanentely rented to a young woman. (She is nice anyway). The house has so far a good fridge, but it makes a lot of noise. Good AC, ventilators: yes good, but not nets at the windows at the sleepingrooms, no mosquito-nets over the beds. No change of bedsheeds or towels during the whole time. The sponges of the beds are ok but gambian qualitiy no europian. There is hot water but it was a hard work to find out where the switch off is - not much support by Jan the \"landlord\". Electricity was \"running\". When I arrived there was no water not to talk about hot water. I had to take my time to stay in the house waiting for the workers to solve these problems. After few days water was running down the wall like a fountain. The sleepingroom-walls show that this does not have happened only one time. At the other side except a somehow accaptable kitchen (clean, no insects), all in tiles. The kitchentable is in bar-style. The house has nothing - no picture at the wall, no TV, no music, no Sideboard, cupboards ... Nothing cosy or creative. Yes, ok - sittingchairs, but no wardrobe, one shower, one toilette. The guesttoilette was a mess, smelling. I created a wardrobe out of it. You pay for electricity, gaz and for the daily cleaning. Cleaning should have been another ¤60,00 for 4 weeks. I had to organize my own housemaid. The sleepingrooms are not to lock. Also the housedoor, you cannot lock it. No safe in the house ... Gaz was ¤30,00 and electricity ¤25,00. Rent was ¤760 for 4 weeks, ¤100 guarantee to pay. Swimmingool is there but after a few days it changed into a dustbin without any hope to get support for cleaning. During all the time an old car was standing there no chance to get the space for an own car to park there. You cannot speak about a garden there. Two trees, yes. No sponges outsides at the sunbeds. The veranda has a big table and a bench. Watchman is there 5 days a week and only in the night, Mohamed, a very nice, kind and helpful man. Jan: you will not see him in case there is a need. You can not describe him as a big talkative. It was not possible to make a contract with him before. Payment only with Western Union, 50% before with a legitimation of a copy of his Gambian driverlicense. It\'s somehow very sad because the house could be very nice if someone would concentrate on it at take care for it.
