A strip of white sand beside the lake provides an area for swimming,
cafes and a few tavernas. Kournas is also suitable for canoe and water-cycling.

The Longest beach of Crete is at 5 Kms, and the village of GEORGIOUPOLIS at 3kms, where the commercial centre.
