Description of objectThe centrepiece of our house is an old cottage, which was initially built in the 20ies of the last century. In 2012/2013 we have refurbished the cottage from scratch and extended it significantly. With the refurbishment we tried on one hand to preserve the character of a typical Irish farm house and on the other hand to implement modern elements. By this we have combined the cosiness of the 'good old days' with the convenience of a modern high standard dwelling house. The house is furnished in a very cosy manner. 140 m² offer plenty of space for 4 people.
The ground floor of the old house has been transformed into a spacious kitchen/dining area. The kitchen boasts a gas hob, extractor hood, electrical oven and grill, micro wave, fridge/freezer and dish washer. On the ground floor of the extension you will find the living room. It's wide panoramic window offers a spectacular view on the Inny valley and the surrounding landscape. Further rooms on the ground floor of the extension are the master bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with bidet and walk-in shower, the lobby, hall, WC and utility room with combined washing machine/dryer. There is a second bedroom with two single beds on the first floor of the extension as well as a second bathroom with another spacious shower.
The first floor of the old house we have reserved for our private use only. This area is not meant to be rented.
Heating and warm water are provided by means of a central oil heating. Furthermore there are two solid fuel stoves, one in the dining area of the kitchen and one in the living room.
Two patios - one to the South and one to the West - offer, of course weather permitting, a sitting area in the sun at any time of the day.
A tarmac parking area is available next to the house.
Thanks for your understanding that smoking is not allowed in our premises.
Location of objectOur house, Spunkane Hill, is located approximately 3 km outside of Waterville in a quiet, rural area surrounded by meadows and pastures at the end of a private gravel road. From the 2,000 m² of beautifully landscaped gardens you can enjoy the view north across the Inny valley to Valentia Island, in the west you can see the Atlantic and in the East the MacGillicuddy Reeks with the Carrauntoohill, the highest mountain in Ireland, offer an imposing backdrop.
