The best unhyped vinyards of France, the spectacular Cathar Castles (and hillwalking) are within twenty minutes drive. The Pyrenees and the Spanish border are less than one hour away. Coastal fishing villags and mountain fastness, lake and river, ancient forts and abbey shopping in beautiful old Perpignan. The airports of Carcassonne and Girona (Spain),both served by Ryanair, are each about an hour's drive by autoroute.
