Description of objectThe Charente-Maritime regionhas a climate second only to the Riviera. Its \'micro climate\' enjoys mild winters and warm sunny summers making it the ideal holiday destination! Our countryside property offers first class accommodation in a restored traditional French manor house complex in the Charente-Maritime region of France. The owners live on site in their lovingly restored French manor house. They have refurbished the outlying buildings into well appointed dwellings that are now available for holiday rental. We have a fantastic heated, fully tiled, safety fenced swimming pool (12 x 8 mtrs) - which has a separate \'splash\' pool (6 x 5 mtrs) for young ones. A half acre garden contains children\'s swings , a play fort, badminton & lawn tennis, a football net, a very large safety netted trampoline,and there is also a games room with table tennis and pool & table football. We have lots of bikes including child seats & safety helmets. In short we have everything you need for the perfect holiday. Then, of course, for the more adventurous, there is all that Charente-Maritime has to offer as well! Each gite has an fully fitted kitchen, fully stocked with all crockery, cutlery etc. There is a kettle, microwave, toaster and full normal size gas oven with overhead extractor. There is satellite TV so you can watch all the normal UK channels or if you prefer you can watch French TV. There is a DVD Player, it is also possible to have UK radio via the satellite & to play music CD’s on the DVD player, so bring your favourite DVDs/CD’s. There is WIFI so you can keep up with your emails if you wish. The bedrooms have full size wardrobes, all bedding & towels are provided free of charge. Cots are available. Pets are welcome in Pegasus, it has a fully fenced garden. We have a communal laundry building with washing machine & tumble drying facilities. The six gites are named after star constellations: Orion ( 2 bedrooms) You enter into the lounge, the kitchen is to the rear, on the first floor it has a double bed in the room at the top stairs & a set of bunk beds in the small bedroom that leads off the first bedroom, the small bedroom is only suitable for children because it is accessed via the parents room., sleeps 4. There is a combined shower room & w/c on the first floor. The total floor area is 40 mtrs sq approx. Pegasus (2 bedrooms) There are two entry doors, one into a large kitchen, the other into the large open plan lounge diner. On the first floor it has a double bed in the room at the top stairs & a set of bunk beds in the small bedroom that leads off the first bedroom, the small bedroom is only suitable for children because it is accessed via the parents room. There are two bed sofas in the lounge. Sleeps up to 6 + baby. There is a shower room with sink & a separate w/c, both are on the ground floor. The total floor area is 105 mtrs sq approx. Andromeda (3 bedrooms) You enter via a patio door into a large open plan area, containing the lounge, dining area & kitchen , the stairs lead from the kitchen to the first floor which has a double bed in room 1, three singles in room 2 & a set of bunks in room 3. there are two bed sofas in the lounge. Sleeps up to 9 + baby. In the bathroom there is a combined bath/ shower and a pedestal sink, the w/c is separate with a hand sink, both are the ground floor. The total floor area is 96 mtrs sq approx. Cassiopeia ( 3 bedrooms) You enter via a large glass door into the open plan lounge, dining & kitchen area, the stairs lead from the rear to the first floor which has a double bed in room 1, two singles in room 2 & a set of bunks in room 3. there are two bed sofas in the lounge. Sleeps up to 8 + baby. In the bathroom there is a combined bath/ shower and a pedestal sink, the w/c is separate with a hand sink, both are the ground floor. The total floor area is 72 mtrs sq approx. Hercules ( 3 bedrooms) There are two entry points, a set of French doors & a patio door, both lead into a large open plan area, with a lounge, dining & kitchen area (includes dishwasher), the stairs lead from the centre to the first floor, which has a double bed in room 1, three singles in room 2 & two singles in room 3.There is a bed sofa in the lounge. Sleeps up to 9 + baby. In the bathroom there is a combined bath/ shower and a pedestal sink, the w/c is separate with a hand sink, both are the ground floor. The total floor area is 108 mtrs sq approx. Columba ( 2 bedrooms) You enter via a glass door into the open plan lounge, dining & kitchen area, the stairs lead from the rear to the first floor which has a has a double bed in room 1, three singles in room 2, there is a bed sofa in the lounge. Sleeps up to 7 + baby. In the bathroom there is a combined bath/ shower and a pedestal sink, the w/c is separate with a hand sink, both are the ground floor. The total floor area is 72 mtrs sq approx. Location of objectThe airports of Bordeaux, Poitiers and La Rochelle are not too far away with good links to the A10 and N10.By Air: Low cost flights to La Rochelle, Poitiers and Bordeaux, from Stanstead are fairly frequent. By Rail: The TGV stops at Niort or Surgeres. Car hire is available at both locations. (Europcar) By Sea: The channel ports St Malo in three and a half hours, Caen and Le Havre in five hours and Cherbourg in about five and a half hours. All these ports operate overnight ferries where you can take a cabin, have a meal and watch a film, enjoy live music and even cabaret acts. For those coming by Eurostar, Calais is 7 hours away. Town: France, La Rochelle, La ville aux MoinesSituated in the hamlet of La Ville Aux Moines,we benefit from stunning views during the summer months and are surrounded by sunflower fields.The village of Villeneuve La Comtesse is just 2 miles away, with amenities which include a bakery, butcher, post office, hairdresser, mini market and bar-restaurant. There is a large park with children’s activities. There is a choice of quality supermarkets, bars, restaurants, swimming pools and banks in Surgeres (15 mins) or St Jean D\'Angely (15 mins). We are 40 minutes from the historic port of La Rochelle on the west coast of France. The beaches of Ile de re, Ile d’Oleron La Rochelle, Chatelaillon & Royan are nearby. Venise verte and Benon wood. Cognac, Puy du Fou, Saintes, La Palmyre zoo, and Futuroscope at Poitiers are all within easy reach.
