Description of objectThe gîte is a delightful detached property for 6, recently restored to European eco norms. There is a tastefully furnished dinning area which provides space and equipment for entertaining with french windows leading out into the garden. The kitchen is very spacious and fully equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine as well as kettle, toaster and coffee machine. French windows open from the kitchen to the outside dinning area under a pergola, perfect for enjoying sunny days and pleasant evenings. There is also a downstairs toilet and broom cupboard. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms with generous hanging and shelf space. There is a large bathroom with toilet, double wash basins and shower. A spacious landing opens up unto a balcony with views of the garden and charming village. Location of objectAt the heart of the Cathar region and near the Gorges de l’Orbieu, Gîtes Castelnaut is located at the center of a small village which has its own supermarket. You can explore the wonderful scenery of the High Corbières by hiking, cycling or horseback riding whilst you make yourself feel at home in one of our gîtes.Town: France, Corbieres, LAROQUE DE FALaroque de Fa, set in the heart of Cathar country is a small village of about 150 inhabitants. On the road linking Narbonne to Andorra the village is surrounded by vineyards, steeped in history and renowned for its natural, unspoiled beauty. It is an ideal setting, happily situated to cater for culture and sightseeing, sporting and family holidays.The village, first mentioned back in 1167, is built on a spur, the highest rocky mass being called ‘Castelnaut’ (high castle) on which was perched the castle where Olivier de Termes sought refuge back in the 12th century. Many of the older buildings in the village are made from the stones of the old castle and battlements. There is also an ancient aqueduct which used to feed the village mill. Today the village is well known for its pâtés and boasts a small supermarket, the customary traders’ vans selling cheese, fish, bread, meat and vegetables, a tennis court and the typical boules pitch.
