Description of objectMaggie’s Mews at Greetham Retreat is a spacious and inviting cottage, sleeping up to four people. It comprises two bedrooms across two floors. This end-cottage affords fantastic views of the surrounding, scenic countryside.There are two comfortable leather sofas and a large flat screen television in the sizeable living area. The kitchen-diner is well appointed with integrated appliances and common accessories including a kettle, toaster, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge-freezer. The kitchen is also stocked with high quality utensils and crockery. The generously sized master bedroom is on the upper floor and has a super king sized bed (6ft) that can be made into two singles (3ft) if preferred. It has a sizeable en suite bathroom featuring a large, luxury whirlpool bath, separate shower and toilet. The second bedroom is on the ground floor and is comprised of two single beds (3ft), with an en suite shower room and toilet. Set in 4 acres of wonderful grounds which include a wildlife pond, newly planted woodland, wild flower meadow with mown paths and seating areas taking full advantage of the glorious views across the Lincolnshire Wolds which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Also available is a large shared courtyard with tables and chairs. A large reception/ comunal lounge area. Plus laundry room with washing machine and tumble drier. There is plenty of open space; hills and woodland to explore and quiet country roads to stroll along.A short walk will take you to into the centre of Greetham, our small, picturesque village. It is home to All Saints Church, the foundations of which date from as early as the 12th Century. The building was restored in 1903 and is presently in good repair. Beech Farm has also recently been restored; it is believed to be the oldest ‘mud and stud’ type construction in the country being dated as early as the late 14th century. An idyllic dew pond with seating on its banks is located at the centre of the village, next to which is Black Horse Farm, once the village’s Ale House. For those with an interest in history, Somersby Church of St. Margaret is less than a mile away. This 15th Century, green sandstone church had the father of Lord Alfred Tennyson as its rector in 1808 and Lord Tennyson himself was born in the nearby rectory. The remains of the 13th Century Bolingbroke Castle is also nearby, as is the site of the 1643 Battle of Winceby, Bolingbroke’s only taste of war in its long history. Less than two miles away is The Viking Way, a long distance footpath which begins on the banks of the Humber and leads 147 miles through Lincolnshire to Rutland Water. Visit the Long Distance Walkers Association for more information. The historic market town of Horncastle is within 3 miles and is famously known as an antique collectors paradise. The ancient town has wonderful places of historic interest, such as the remains of its Roman wall, as well as all the modern shops and amenities of a modern, bustling market town. For those with an interest in nature and wildlife, Snipe Dales Country Park is just three miles away. The park offers many attractive walks as well as picnic tables in the pleasant surroundings. There is a great deal of wildlife to appreciate, from frogs and dragonflies to herons and owls. Just five miles away is the charming Stockwith Mill Tea Room and Craft Shop which serves homemade food in lovely surroundings by its working waterwheel. If you find yourself just wanting to relax in a comfortable and friendly pub atmosphere there are several traditional inns nearby. Within five miles you’ll find The White Hart, The Massingberd Arms, George & Dragon and The Blue Bell Inn.
