Description of objectSleeps 6L\\\'Ancien CouventAs a former convent, L’Ancien Couvent was home to the nuns of the region for many years. The Convent shielded many Resistance fighters during World War II and a monument to the young men and women of the village who were killed by the Germans on one day in 1944 can be seen up by the church. The house retains its original features and charm and has been lovingly renovated to the highest standards inside to provide a modern, spacious and luxurious living space. With three large bedrooms and two bathrooms, the house can easily accommodate six people. The Ground Floor: Kitchen Entirely renovated to the highest standards, the ground floor has a spacious open plan luxury kitchen and dining room with original exposed beams and cherry wood floors. Flooded with natural light, there are two shuttered windows to the front of the house, with window seats, and one window to the rear which overlooks the small stream that runs directly behind the house. There is also a super-size armchair in one corner for those of us who would rather rest than cook. The deluxe kitchen is exceptionally well appointed and has all mod cons, including a large American fridge freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. It has a large breakfast bar with seating for six. The dining area features the original fireplace, and the original stone sink used by the nuns. There is a large pine dining table, with wooden chairs, and soft ambient lighting for the evenings. Sitting Room With two large shuttered French windows that open directly onto the terrace, a garden door, and a window that faces the stream, the luxurious sitting room is bathed in natural light from three sides. The room features original exposed beams and cherry wood floors. With ample seating for six, including a large Conran sofa, giant beanbag and armchairs, it is exceptionally relaxing and comfortable. There is a large flat screen television with all the FreeSat channels, as well as a DVD player. There is also a radio and CD player, and WI-FI is available throughout the house. There is also a downstairs toilet, central heating and constant hot water. Upstairs: The landing features a small writing desk and the entire first floor has been furnished with pure wool carpets for ultimate comfort. Master bedroom The spacious master bedroom features original exposed beams. With three shuttered windows on two sides looking out to the countryside and across to the Church spire, the room is exceptionally light and airy. It has a super-king size bed as well as a large sofa and super-size beanbag for extra seating. It also has a custom built wardrobe and dressing area. The room also benefits from a separate toilet and luxury wet room with a rainfall shower. Second bedroom The second bedroom has a large shuttered window looking with views to the Church, and exposed beams. It features a luxury king size bed, custom build wardrobe as well as extra shelving. Third bedroom The third bedroom has a shuttered window and and two highly comfortable single beds with bedside tables and lights. All the bedrooms have portable electric fans. The two bedrooms share a sumptuous bathroom with a large bath, toilet, heated towel rail, and shuttered window. Pool and Gardens Outside there is a large private swimming pool (12m x 6m) with Roman steps and non slip surrounds. There is also a fully operational barbecue. The enclosed walled garden and terrace is well maintained with abundant honeysuckle creepers and mature plants. There is a large outdoor dining table, plenty of chairs, and sun loungers. There is also an electronically operated awning for shade.
