Description of objectLes SirÚnes welcomes you to a cosy, elegant setting inside the medina of Essaouira.An old house, next to the city walls, has been finely restored in contemporary style by Italian architect Edoardo Miotti. Unexpected external openings render its spaces large and bright. The use of pale colours and traditional Moroccan materials like tadelakt and thuja, create a warm, restful atmosphere. By day you can enjoy the sun on the large terrace and by night you can relax in front of the fire in the living room on the ground floor or in the privacy of your room. THE ROOMS â ELEGANCE AND PERSONALITY Five rooms, each furnished with its own personality, are located on the first and second floor of the house. Rooms are heated, have all comforts and have a private bathroom with a shower or bathtub. It has two large windows that open onto the outside and a bathroom with a bathtub. It is ideal for one person or a couple on their honeymoon. âSauvageâ is a double room with a view over the city walls. It is furnished in African style and has a modern bathroom with shower. âRousseâ is one of the two suites, with a double bed, fireplace and bathroom with a bathtub. The space features a large window that makes it bright and cool in summer months. âBruneâ is a very bright twin/triple room and has a bathroom with a shower. âBlondeâ is the second floor suite separated from the other spaces in the house by a large window. It has a lounge with a fireplace and a small private terrace. The bathroom has a shower. Sleeps up to 3. On the ground floor there is a confortable living-room with fire-place. By day you can enjoy the sun on the large terrace on top of the house. Town: Morocco, Essaouira, EssaouiraâUntil recently Marrakech got all the attention, but today Essaouira is increasingly the favourite destination of elite European travellers to Morocco. The cosmopolitan atmosphere of the UNESCO heritage âwhite cityâ, 170 km from âredâ Marrakech, which has a pleasant climate even at the height of summer thanks to a constant wind â the taros â from the sea, has always been the amor fou of sophisticated travellers.It used to be a mecca for alternative tourism, for hippies and surfers, but today it is filled with international bon vivants: actors like Mel Gibson and designers like Philippe Starck, who come to discover the blue and white city overlooking the Atlantic. Within the fortified walls that enclose the medina, the atmosphere of peace and freedom recalls the Bohemian period of â60s, when it became an enclave for artists like Jimi Hendrix, William Burroughs, Frank Zappa, Bob Marley, Pasolini and Orson Welles, who filmed scenes from âOthelloâ here. It is the only city in Morocco to be designed before being built, in 1760, on the orders of the Sultan, by the French architect Theodore Cornut.â (from Menâs Vogue Italy, 2011) Essaouira hosts numerous important arts events, including: Gnaoua and World Music Festival, which has enlivened the squares, streets and beach of Essaouira for a whole weekend in June since 1998. The Gnaoua and World Music Festival, is a world class event not to be missed, where you can immerse yourself fully in gnaoua and Moroccan art and culture, with international guests, concerts and exhibitions. Events take place in the medina, whose alleyways fill with the sounds of a fascinating blend of musical styles and cultures. The main stages are set up near the two large entryways of the city, in Place Moulay el Hassan and Bab Marrakech, but the whole city becomes the stage for art and music. Alizés Musical Spring takes place in April and attracts leading names in classical and symphonic music. The Festival des Andalousies Atlantiques takes place in December, with conferences, concerts and debates aimed at raising awareness of the artistic heritage shared by Morocco and Spain.
