Description of objectLovely renovated 2 bedroom cottage with a 300m2 closed-off garden located in a breath-taking area. The neighbourhood is surrounded by the sea when the tide is in; as there is a beautiful estuary a 5 minute walk from the house. There is also a huge sandy-beach 5 minute walk away with dunes and views across to Jersey. The sea is warmed by the Gulf Stream (20 degrees!) and the beach has repeatedly been awarded a European blue flag for cleanliness. This is a unique countrified quiet area surrounded by the sea. This is an ideal family property with an enclosed garden and a very safe area where families walk very safely to the beach.
Location of objectCarteret is a very popular seaside resort that you can access on foot when the tide is out or by car (5mn) which provides plenty restaurants, like La Marine and Les Ormes; which are both Michelin starred restaurants. From Carteret, you can take a boat to Jersey (40 mn crossing), take sailing classes as well as go on beautiful walks on the cliffs and stroll across its Thursday market. You can also enjoy a drink or a meal at a bar/restaurant’s terrace on its beach while children play safely.
A 15 minute drive away/ after a lovely long walk on the beach or after an old touristic train journey, you can visit another beautiful old small town surrounded by an estuary called Portbail and go to its market on Tuesdays.
There is a 9 hole-golf course at St Jean de la Rivière, one mile away.
Another popular seaside resort further South is Agon-Coutainville; which provides numerous restaurants and bars. All these places also organize the very popular “vide-greniers” which are like car boot sales that take over the whole town. Also, there is a very popular museum “La Cité de la Mer” in Cherbourg, in which there is a big aquarium and where you can visit a submarine. Moreoever, one and a half hour away, you find the well-known Landing Beaches, Bayeux Tapestry and the Caen Peace Museum. Finally, you are two hours away from Le Mont St Michel.
Town: France, Barneville-Carteret, BarnevilleBarneville-Plage is also equipped with shops, bars and restaurants as well as a market and plenty of Summer activities for families in July, including evening street shows, a bouncy castle, a kite festival (end of July), beach sports/competitions, etc…). At the end of the street there is a private outdoor swimming-pool where very popular swimming and aqua-fit classes take place. There are also tennis courts in the next street. Finally, there is a nice café on the beach. The town-centre is a 3 minute drive away and has more shops, including 2 supermarkets and a fishmonger, bars/restaurants and a very popular Saturday market.
