Barichara lies in the border of a plateau, 2 and a half hours from the closest airport of Palonegro in Bucaramanga. In the center of Colombia´s tobacco producing area and famous Bocadillo or guava sweet industry.
Adventure sports as kayaking, rafting, caves, rappel, horseback riding, etc are available. 1 hour away from the spectacular Panachi park with its magnificent view over the Pescadero river and where you may take a 6.3 km cable car to the Mesa de los Santos is another of the attractions of this area.

Time stopped in Barichara and lingers among the sun bathed streets and its adobe walls which hide the magic and beauty in each of the houses which have standed upright for centuries in this sunny town. Located at 1300 mts above sea level and 21º celsius, Barichara was founded in 1705. Its name means 'Place to Rest' in the native language of the Guanes. The town has been built on stone and adobe and its people are cordially known as 'the yellow foots' due to the color of its soil.
Named as National Monument in 1978, Barichara maintains its style and architecture until now.
