Description of objectThis fabulous apartment is the perfect base for enjoying the slow pace of life in a beautiful Italian \\\'real\\\' town and exploring Umbria, the \\\'green heart\\\' of Italy and its neighbors of Tuscany and Le Marche (each 30 minutes distance from the flat by car) .
This third-floor flat, just a couple of minutes walk from the main square and in the \\\'old\\\' town, has been restored to the highest of standards - retaining wood beams, terracotta tile floors - and decorated and furnished with flair and original one-off owner designed furniture.
The large living-dining-kitchen space is open to the rafters and flooded with light from windows and large glass doors leading directly out onto a beautiful terrace overlooking convent gardens and the hills beyond Citta di Castello\\\'s ancient walls. The main bedroom is one of a kind and there is a guest room for friends as well.
Location of objectCitta di Castello is an Umbrian town with a difference. In a region full of austere medieval hill-top towns, Citta di Castello, on the banks of the Tiber, is by contrast open and bright. The austerity of its own medieval past has been softened by the refinement of Renaissance and Florentine influences. The town is at Umbria\\\'s northern tip, near its borders with Tuscany and Le Marche, which lend their respective elegance and wildness to the countryside. It is the perfect starting point for exploring this breathtakingly beautiful and culturally rich central Italian region. Many key cultural sites - eg Florence, Perugia, Siena, Assisi, Todi, Spello, Spoleto, Gubbio, Ravenna and Urbino - are easy day day trips. Or else just enjoy the charm of this authentic Italian town, starting the day lazily with a cappuccino and ending it with a prosecco in the main square. There are many summer cultural events and Perugia\\\'s internationally acclaimed Umbria Jazz festival is just 30 minutes away.

From its ancient city walls to its striking circular \\\'Torre Communale\\\' tower (great views from the top), Citta di Castello is a beautiful town and well worth exploring for historical and cultural interest. It also has an excellent municipal gallery (Pinacoteca Communale), housed in what must be the town\\\'s most beautiful building, the delicately \\\'graffitied\\\' Vitelli alla Cannoniera Palace, whose collection includes pieces by Raffaele and Luca Signorelli. The stunning 17th century theatre is very active. The town is full of superb restaurants serving authentic Umbrian fare. There are high quality shops and a lively morning market. Outside the city walls is the fabulous and unspoiled countryside of the Upper Tiber Valley, circled by the Appenine mountains. This makes Citta di Castello a great base for outdoor holidays, like golfing, hiking, mountain biking or horse riding trips, and there are also pot-holing and canoeing options. The town has its own natural sulphur springs and spa.
