The medieval Guardiagrele, the capital of wrought iron, Rocca S. They are located in the district of Fara Filiolum Petri, Bucchianico and Casalincontrada, and the waterfalls of Rio Verde, in Borrello, which, with a drop of about 200 meters, represent the highest waterfalls in Italy and among the largest in Europe. The two artificial lakes of Bomba and Casoli are also popular sights to see where the dams made by man have created a favorable habitat for many species of fish, while in the oasis Serranella, the river Aventine and the Gogna stream, flowing into the Sangro, form a pond frequented by wading birds. The mountainous territory, including the area of the Majella National Park, offers well-known winter sports centers such as Maielletta, Passo Lanciano, Pizzoferrato, Gamberale and beautiful sceneries as the Blockaus or the Valley of Santo Spirito. “Trabocchi” are the most fascinating of the rugged southern coastline, which culminates, a few kilometers from the border of Molise, with the steep and wild cliffs of Punta Aderci, and the Marine Nature Reserve nicknamed the little Normandy. These amazing and picturesque fishing huts sitting on stilts hang over the sea like enormous spiders, joined to the mainland by long wooden walkways. You can find these extraordinary architectures along the coast from Francavilla al Mare to San Salvo, known as La Costa Trabocchi. One of the most famous is, without any doubt, the \\\\\\\'Trabocco Turchino\\\\\\\' which Gabriele D\\\\\\\'Annunzio described in the novel “Il trionfo della Morte” as «the great Fishing machine, similar to the skeleton of a giant amphibian». It is on these shores that man, not satisfied with the generosity of Mother Nature, wanted to include sublime architectural elements such as the \\\\\\\'Trabocchi\\\\\\\', solitary stilts connected to the mainland by rickety bridges that stubbornly resist the waves.
