Description of objectThis one of a kind apartment is inspired on the actual authentic name of the land: “Moinho das Canas” which freely translated means Cane Mill. As the name suggests quite some cane is growing here and we used this material to decorate this apartment. You will find the bamboo back, used in all sorts of ways; in the ceilings, interior finishing, the table, the kitchen and even the bed. All this done in a very harmonious way with room enough for many more natural building materials such as cork, wood and stone.The Bamboo Apartment is T 1 and features: • one bedroom with double bed (160cm x 200cm) • bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, • a corridor with wardrobe • a split level down (50 cm 3 steps) open space living, dining and kitchen area • the kitchen is simple and rural in nature with a fridge, gas stove with oven, extraction fan and utensils. • a low loft to sleep up to 2 children access through a wooden ladder • use of wash machine (not in but near the apartment) • fire place for winter • terrace • decking with great view • free wifi • hairdryer on request (please don’t bring your own in relation to energy efficiency) • use of wash machine (not in the apartment but nearby) • bike rental on request • breakfast, lunch or dinner on request The living has a self designed sofa with fire place that has a tiny oven in it so on the cold days you can put a fire on and cook your cake at the same time. The windows to the front give an amazing view and access to a beautiful wooden decking of more than 30m2 with an outside shower and plenty of space for lying, sitting or doing yoga. On the other side we have a tiled outside area for extra sun exposure in the morning and on windy days. Through this side you normally enter and make your way out to the parking place where you can comfortably park your car safely only 30 meters away from the apartment. Access is found through a tiled path from the apartment till your car. Electricity, Water and Gas is included in the price; you will only pay for wood in the winter if you choose to make a fire. The building is centrally heated as well. If you come with children we have solutions for babies in the parents bedroom, younger children need to sleep on a extra bed in the living room or children over 7 years old can you use the low mezzanine level which is a great adventure for kids (access through a step staircase). Or if you have kids who are old enough we have a fully decorated yurt (Mongolian Tent see website for pictures) a stone’s throw away from the apartment which can be seen from the apartment please check for availability. Location of objectThe apartments are part of the Vida Pura eco retreat and inspiration land. As well as staying in accommodation full of natural materials, you will get to enjoy a 100% ecological holiday experience. Not only does the retreat harness its energy from sun and wind, but we also source our own water, treat our own drainage and produce a lot of our own food.The retreat features a biodynamic farm which creates great natural produce for you to enjoy, if you so wish, and we have lots of delicious, home-made products available to you. The farm contains various animals; we have chickens, ducks, cats, dogs and donkeys, that all play their part in helping us sustain this rewarding lifestyle – both as committed co-workers and as domestic companions. We recycle our glass, plastic, paper, metal and food and, because we produce our own renewable energy, we operate with a very low carbon output and minimal waste. Consequently, you can relax, safe in the knowledge that your holiday is putting no additional strain on the planet. Of course, we ask our workers, visitors and guests to help us adhere to this low-impact ethos. Since we acquire most of our energy from the sun, our supply is limited to what nature gives us. As such, we must ask everyone to be kind to our system; heavy electricity usage and the use of high-consumption appliances – such as irons, hair dryers, etc. – will quickly drain our power supply. If you require the use of such items, we have special, low energy ones we can provide when needed. Of course, this doesn’t mean to say you’ll be sat in the dark if the sun isn’t out; we will always provide energy, but it’s part of the Vida Pura experience to be conscious of your usage. The same goes for water. Since you are staying at a retreat we provide more than just the apartment; you can come and see, first-hand, what eco living means. We give tours, host workshops and organise excursions, all related to ecology, relaxation, creativity, and connecting with nature. Last but not least, this project is humanitarian in nature, and profits are put toward , humanitarian projects. We aim to support projects from all over the world – both financially and with hands-on help. In this way we can do our bit to help those who devote their lives to aiding others: humans or animals in need. Apart from our houses that are built as ecologically as possible we have a beautiful biodynamic garden that produces lovely food for you to enjoy. Great walks and strolls by the river stream can be undertaken. If you want some more movement but not too much you can take a bike, walk or drive to Odeceixe, a little sleepy town where time has stood still. Around the area traditionalism is very tangible, agriculture and fishery are one of the main activities. An area where donkeys are still ploughing the fields and the fish is served straight from the boat onto your plate. Odeceixe Beach is a 1st price winning beach in the huge Natural Park that surrounds it. The beach is great for surfing, body boarding and sunbathing. It lends itself for playing lots of games and because of its width during low tide it’s almost a round beach. The stream that runs over our land flows into the sea. At the riverside the ocean’s waves are cancelled out and harnesses great opportunity for families with smaller kids. Recently the Rota Vicentina has been installed, an unbelievable experience for trekking minded people. A trail that runs right by our land goes for hundreds of kilometres over the coastline and partly inland as well.
