Description of objectThe Palamidi Maisonette is in a building adjacent to our other studios and apartments and is totally independent. The accommodation is on two floors and can easily sleep 1 - 8 persons. The name is taken from the famous Palamidi Castle which is situated on the hill high above Nafplion.On the ground floor there is a corner lounge, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower, 1 bedroom with king size bed and large covered patio. On the first floor has a double sofa-bed, AC inverter, bedroom with king size bed and large verandahs all around with bamboo furniture and wonderful views of the Palamidi Castle. King Size Beds with orthopedic mattress and under mattress AC inverter air-conditioning in every living space Fully Fitted Kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine Plasma TV on both floors Security Door Soundproofed windows Sheltered patio on ground floor Spacious balconies all around first floor with bamboo furniture (ecologically friendly) Spectacular views of the Palamidi Castle Internet Connection Location of objectThe area where Agroktima Elia is situated is called Nea Tiryntha, it is adjacent to the archaeological area of Ancient Tiryns, famous worldwide for its Cyclopean walls and palatial ruins.In ancient times the sea level was higher and therefore closer to the raised hillock on which the citadel was built making it almost impregnable although it is only 26m above sea level. Excavation started in 1884 and has sporadically continued throughout the years. Recently there is another team of archeologist working on the outlying areas. The citadel, palace, tunnels and drainage are well preserved and well worth a visit. The Cyclopean walls have mystified many eras as to how the stones of mammoth proportions were placed there to make up the walls and the opinion in ancient times was that only the Cyclops could have put them there, hence the name. Immovable and massive the stones still stand in exactly the same place today. Homer reminds us in his books The Iliad and The Odyssey that Ancient Tiryns was inhabited during the Trojan war and the Mycenaean Era. A few kilometers from the citadel the Mycenaean Dam is evident and also the Tholos Tomb of Tiryns which is also in excellent repair. The modern town of Nea (New) Tiryntha has everything that a visitor may need for supplies plus post office etc. Town: Greece, Nafplion, Nea TirynthaNafplion (Nafplio)The city of Nafplion was the first capital of the newly liberated Greece in 1821. It is a magical place and the remnants of its oppressors (the franks, the Venetians and the Ottoman Rule) are evident everywhere adding to its beauty. Now a cosmopolitan town, Nafplion attracts thousands of visitors of all ages every year. Visit some of the following: Museums The archaeological museum in Syntagma Square, the Folklore museum and the Military Museum The Bavarian Lion Carved into the mountain side The Palamidi Castle Built by the Franks the Palamidi towers over the city, 999 steps to the top - accessible also by car. The Bourtzi Castle The small island in the middle of the harbour, boat taxis visit during the summer Akronafplia The piece of land jutting out at the end of the harbour and the castles upon it are called Akronafplia, much of the castles still intact. Pili Tis Ksiras (Land Entrance) The gate to the city - the entrance by land as opposed to by sea. The gate has recently been reconstructed. Karathona & Arvanitia beaches Karathona is a long, sandy, well organised beach lined with cafeterias and a favourite with tourists (both Greek and foreign) whilst Arvanitia is a cove which services the locals wanting a \\\'quick dip\\\'.
