Description of objectOnly few meters from the walls of Santa Engracia Church, which is also knows as National Pantheon, this small cosy studio is situated on the mezzanine of an old Portuguese building.It consists of one room with a sleeping and a living/dining part and kitchenette, bathroom and small balcony. It accommodates up to two persons (one double bed 140x200). The kitchen is fully equipped. For families with babies, we provide a cot (baby bed), baby bottle sterilizer, blender, etc. All linens and towels are included. The building is situated near the centre of Lisbon-Baixa, within walking distance of Castle of São Jorge, beautiful viewpoints of Portas do Sol, Graça and Senhora do Monte and legendary tram No. 28. It is three minutes away from the Santa Apolónia (train/metro station), and only few meters away from the oldest part of town - Alfama. There are several banks, pharmacies, local grocery stores, supermarkets, and restaurants/cafés in its vicinity. A few meters from the building is a public swimming pool, and beautiful park with café overlooking river Tejo (Tagus). On Tuesdays and Saturdays, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the famous flea market-Feira da Ladra, which is on the other side of the Pantheon building. Minimum stay is 2 nights. Location of objectAlfama is the oldest district of Lisbon and it spreads from the Castle of São Jorge to the Tejo river. During the Islamic invasion, the Alfama constituted the largest part of the city, extending to the Baixa neighbourhood. Alfama became inhabited by fishermen and the poor: its fame as a poor neighbourhood continues to this day. While the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake caused considerable damage throughout the capital, the Alfama survived with little damage, due to its compact labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. It is a historical quarter of homes with small shops, Fado bars and restaurants. Modernizing trends have invigorated the district: old houses have been re-purposed or remodelled, while new buildings have been constructed.
