Description of objectThe apartment is one of a small complex of new luxury apartments in the centre of town. On the third floor it faces onto a quiet side street and is accessed by stairs or lift. There is a large lounge/dining room with separate kitchen area and small balcony. The sofa is a very substantial comfortable double sofa bed and there are also two fold out beds.There is a very large double bedroom with fitted wardrobe, separate WC and a very large bathroom. TV, DVD, stereo, oven and hob are all installed. It is equipped with all the crockery and cutlery you will need for your stay, towels and bedding are also included. It is a spacious one-bedroom apartment, with the facilities to sleep 5 or 6 people. There are spectacular views of the High and Low Tatras. Location of objectThere are several ski areas within easy reach of the apartment that suit both skiiers and snowboarders. They range in size from the fastest growing resort in Slovakia, Jasna, to the many single lifts scattered here and there.Liptovsky Mikulas is at the entrance to the Demanovska Dolina – Slovakias most beautiful and premier ski valley. At the head of the valley below Chopok is Jasna – Due to its location it would be possible to ski in both the Low and High Tatra from the apartment making a large number of different resorts available. Jasna is 15 minutes away by road. If you don’t have a car, there are free buses to the resort from the centre of town. Jasna boasts a vast 45km of snow covered slopes to explore. Huge investment has recently place with many new chairlifts, cafes and bars as well as a snow park. Lift passes are approximately ¼ of the price of those in the Alps. Lessons are available with Crystalski. Liptovsky Mikulas is also at the heart of a web of cross country ski trails. This area is wonderful in summer, with many activities to choose from :- Hiking The Low and High Tatras are both a short bus ride away. Although very different, both of these stunning national parks have a long history of tourism and a complex network of waymarked mountain and valley trails of varying difficulty. There are new chair lifts to various viewpoints which can be used for some stunning but straightforward high level walks. Studded by clear mountain tarns and with fabulously diverse flora and fauna the area is a walkers paradise. Rafting and canoeing White water rafting is available for all the family on the Vah near Besenova. Alternatively further afield it is possible to travel down the Dunajec gorge (the border with Poland) by Gondola! Canoe hire is also available at Liptovsky Mara. There is an artificial water course at the edge of the lake- where you can have a two hour lesson in white water or slalom canoeing! This is an Olympic and world championship venue. Swimming The Liptov region is famous for its thermal pools and very large aqua parks where it is possible to swim outside all year round until 10pm! There are 4 such parks within easy reach of the apartment – the largest Tatralandia is only 2 miles away. Tatralandia has 9 pools and 16 flumes (www.tatralandia.sk). Besenova has a mere 6 pools – much hotter and more relaxing and is a scenic 20 min bus ride away. There are also two beaches on Liptovsky Mara – the lake directly West of Liptovsky Mikulas . Caving The Low Tatra is a limestone region (the High are predominantly granite hence their different character). 15 min out of L. Mikulas in the Demanovska Dolina are two world class show caves – The Freedom Cave (very well decorated) and the Ice Cave. Both were used by the Partisans in WW2. Cycling The quiet country lanes are ideal for cycling but for the more adventurous there is a huge network of mountain biking trails including the truly scary descent from Chopok, a 6,000 ft ascent by chairlift. Horse-riding If you are a beginner, you can opt for a ride in a riding school. Alternatively there are many guided rides, some of which are suitable for beginners as well. Experienced riders can take a day trip which is a wonderful way to enjoy the countryside. If you not keen to sit in a saddle, there are trips in a terrain carriage. A maximum of 3 people can join the ride. (During winter, you can also try a Nordic specialty – skijoring, where you wear skis, but are pulled along by a horse!) Town: Slovakia, Lower Tatras, Liptovsky mikulasLiptovsky Mikulas is a pretty and peaceful town, centering around a beautiful church in the town square. The River Vah runs past the town, and has a canoeing course that is available for use. The resort is located in the mountains Low Tatras which is part of the national park NAPANT. Low Tatras massif trails over the middle of Slovakia in the length of 82 km the east-west direction, between scenic valleys of Váh and Hron. The highest peak is Ďumbier 2043 m a.s.l. and the second highest peak is the known ski and hiking hill Chopok 2024 m a.s.l..Jasná Nízke Tatry as the largest ski arena with great conditions for winter sports in Slovakia offers endless opportunities of entertainment and active relax on the northern and southern side of Chopok. The resort offers 45 km of perfectly snowed up slopes different difficulty, suitable for beginners, families with children, advanced skiers and also to organize world class competitions. Modern snowmaking system in the length of 27 km offers the snow guarantee for minimum 5 months in a year. The wild ride lovers will be able to enjoy the free ride zones in great snow park. You can ski in the evening on the two illuminated slopes in Jasna. The length of the winter season is usually from the beginning of December to the end of April. There are operating 29 cable cars and lifts with transport capacity more than 30 000 persons per hour at Chopok. |
