| Stanici is a 5 minute drive outside the historic medieval town of Omis with all modern amenities, including a sandy beach, and is where the River Cetina enters the sea. The river and the canyon behind the town not only provide the most wonderful scenery, but also affords a myriad of outdoor activities including canoeing, white water rafting, climbing, mountain biking etc. The hiking is particularly outstanding along paths through the wooded slopes to the mountain ridges. Split is the second largest city in Croatia and ferries leave regularly to many of the surrounding islands - Brac and Hvar are well worth a visit. The city is over 1700 years old and at its heart is the wonderful Diocletian Palace dating to AD 305. Makarska is 27 km from Stanici. It is an old town, with a horseshoe shaped bay and palm fringed promenades full of fashionable cafe bars and boutiques |
