Umag is a small town on the north western coast of Istria. It is the westernmost city of Croatia. It is very close to Italy and Slovenia and it is a complex of 23 smaller villages.
It has population of 7769, and with municipal area 12901. Those are data from 2001. Like many other towns in Istria, Umag has multi-ethnic population. Croats are an absolute majority, but there live a lot of Italians, Serbs, Slovenians, and even Albanians.
Umag has rich history. It was mentioned for the first time in the 7th century by an anonymous citizen from Italian Ravenna, but had already existed in Roman times. Summers are hot and sunny, so while you are spending your holidays in Umag you don\'t have to worry about the whether. Winters are mild, but windy.
