| Mazarron bay is enclosed by the mountain ranges of Sierras Moreras, Almenara, Algorobo, Lo Alto, Muela and slightly further to the North, Sierra Espuña. This gives Mazarron Bay a 'microclimate' which invariably results in better weather than the rest of Spain. Puerto de Mazarron boasts more than 300 days of sunshine every year. The coastline of Puerto has many kilometres of fine sandy beaches and safe bathing. For keen walkers, there are fantastic hills and mountains within a short driving distance. We have seen people surf there, so that's a possibility, along with diving and snorkelling- there's a small reef in the bay. Bike hire is available locally. There is a museum, as well as other sites of cultural and historical interest. A particularly good day out is a trip to the old naval installations at Cabo Tinoso. This mountain fort has spectacular views, and fascinating architecture. |
