Taking the cable car, nearby the market, you must visit the parish of Monte and once there the Quinta Monte Palace, before going also to visit the Botanical Garden, with more than 2000 exotic plants from all over the World. Beside this, the tour presents marvellous panoramas over the bay and the valleys of Funchal. Returning from Monte, try one of the traditional means of transportation - the typical Monte toboggans, for a remarkable 2 Km trip down to Funchal, in about 10 minutes. The touristic Lido bathing complex - 15 minutes walking from home - is one of the best in the island, for it has its sea water swimming-pools and direct access to the sea. For those who prefer golf, there is an excellent 18-hole, par 72 course, designed by Cabell Robinson in the municipality, less than 15 minutes away from the apartment, by car, named Palheiro Ferreiro, with a stunning view over the amphitheatre of Funchal.
