Description of objectOn the banks of the river Cure, at the foot of the picturesque Vézelay, we have an authentic Fisherhaus for rent. Vézelay is a medieval pelgrimage village. It has a special, thousand-year-old monastery church, dedicated to Mary Magdalene. Hiking on old trails you walk through the most beautiful nature. The cottages lay in the nature park the Morvan, the heart of Burgundy. Bicycles and canoes are provided.
Location of objectThe sunny garden at the riverside of the Fisherhuis is sixteen metres deep. You have a beautiful view of the hills across with woods and meadows. There is garden furniture and a barbecue. For the tenants there are two canoes available.
The fishing house has a large courtyard where you can park your car. Under a roof there is a picnic table and a swing. There are two mountain bikes available for guests to ride through the woods and meadows.
In the spacious kitchen is a good place to be. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, oven etc. There is also wireless internet. In the summer you walk with your tray with the food through the basement or via the stairs in the back room to the garden at the river.
Outside the season the house is heated with electric heaters or with cosy wood stoves - enjoy the flames dancing behind the windows. For the food you can go around the corner. There is a baker, a butcher and a small supermarket.
Town: France, Naturpark Morvan, Saint PereSaint-Père (350 inhabitants) is famous for its 800 year old church. Although it was not possible to outdo Vézelay, the church is still exceptional. Outside the village there are medicinal springs that were already used in the New Stone Age. The Celts here worshipped the goddess Sulis, the Romans Minerva; both the Celtic sanctuary and the Roman bathhouse have been excavated. The spring water, slightly radioactive and containing iodine, is still considered curative.
Vézelay lies on the 300 metre high 'Scorpion Hill'. At the summit lies the almost thousand-year-old Maria Magdalena monastery church. The church has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is described in every introduction to art history because of its enchanting sculptures of biblical figures and demons. In the walled city the atmosphere of bygone times still floats. In the Middle Ages, Vézelay was an important place of pilgrimage.

Additional InformationThe 'gigajukebox' in the living room contains thousands of hours of music, and there are also books - all in different genres. In the old vaulted cellar underneath there are basins, where once the fish caught in the river swam around a bit - hence the 'Fishershaus'.
The house breathes an authentic atmosphere: old tiled floors, massive beamed ceilings and pretty details such as fitted wardrobes and an old fireplace. There are four bedrooms and space for seven people. But you can also stay comfortable for two. |
