Description of objectCasa Vechia Varvara, is a 100 year old fisherman cottage, converted two years ago into a charming holiday house.
The house is located on a hilltop, overlooking the wild marshlands of the Danube Delta. It is situated in a small village, 10-15 mins away from the main port town of Tulcea.
The offer is for a self-catering holiday, but tasty home cooked meals, based on fish and fresh local produce can be made available at a charge. Also, help with the trip planning and guided tours in the region can be arranged.
Location of objectThe Danube Delta is a wildlife enthusiast’s (especially a bird watcher’s) paradise.
Travelers can spend three or more days exploring its passages, teaming with the highest concentration of bird colonies in all of Europe. The maze of canals bordered by thatch, willows and oaks entangled in lianas, offers the perfect breeding ground for countless species of birds, some of them from as far away as China and Africa. Millions of Egyptian white pelicans arrive here every spring to raise their young, while equal numbers of Arctic geese come here to escape the harsh winters of Northern Europe.
Town: Romania, Dobrogea, SomovaDobrogea region is home to the Danube Delta, a 2,200-square-mile wildlife reserve designated by UNESCO as a “Reservation of the Biosphere;” the ancient port city of Constanta, and the seaside resorts stretching along Romania’s 152-mile Black Sea coast. From the port city of Tulcea, day cruises through the Delta’s waterways give travelers a glimpse of the abundant wildlife and the traditional fishing villages. Floating reed islands, sand dunes and waterways offer shelter to over 300 species of birds, countless fish and 1,150 species of plants.
