Description of objectLe Chapitre is a beautiful Burgundy manor property sleeping 6-8 guests and a separate appartment overlooking the pool which can sleep 2-4 guests. The property boasts its own, private, heated swimming pool* in grounds of 6,000m² to which guests have free access.The property is located in Southern Burgundy, close to the historic wine growing towns of Nuit St Georges and Beaune and features : Comfortable accommodation for between 2 and 8 people Large, heated swimming pool 11m x 5m Huge garden with badminton, hammocks, shade & campfire area Child friendly: all equipment provided; secure pool, enclosed garden, indoor and outdoor toys. In-house services (available upon request): honesty wine/drinks cellar, UK newspapers, in-house chef, babysitting Off-site services (available upon request): wine tasting, game shooting (Winter) , farmyard visits Adults and children’s bikes available. The main house is 220m2 and features 3 bedrooms, a spacious veranda with BBQ, outdoor fridge & food preparation area plus Wifi, UK satellite television, home cinema and a BOSE surround sound system. There is also a separate appartment overlooking the pool which can sleep 2-4 guests. The 90m² appartment features one bedroom, outside table, chairs and BBQ. Wifi is available upon request. Available year-round, Le Chapitre is an ideal base from which to explore Burgundy’s tourist sites and wine region or to simply relax by the pool or in one of the hammocks slung from the trees (summer) or snuggle up by the fire and enjoy fine wines and food (winter.) *We only ever take one booking per week, either for the main house or for the appartment (unless you specifically require both properties together) so you always have exclusive use of the pool. Location of objectLe Chapitre is located in the peaceful village of Varennes le Grand, situated just outside of historic Chalon-sur-Saône and close to the historic wine growing towns of Nuit St Georges and Beaune.Wine-lovers will enjoy the “Fine Burgundy Wines Road” – the “Champs Elysées” of Burgundy which is accessed via a well-signposted route linking 37 wine villages criss-crossed by footpaths and cycle tracks. The list of attractions nearby includes the gothic architecture of the Beaune Hospices, the medieval monastery at Cluny and historical Chalon-sur-Saône, which is just a 10-15 minute drive away. Here there is a twice-weekly market, bars and restaurants, bowling, go karting, golf and parachuting. If you would like to go further afield, Lyon is 1hr, Paris is 1hr20mins, and the mountains of Chamonix 2hrs 15mins away by TGV train. Rock climbing, horse riding and speed boats are available locally as well as access to the green cycle (“voie verte”) and the blue walking (“voie bleue”) canal paths. There is also an upstairs “den” for kids with television and DVD player, beanbags and a chalkboard. There are numerous boardgames, a Wii, a kite, plastic tip darts and board, dining-room table tennis for indoor use and swings, a sandpit, a tent, tennis/badminton equipment, frisbee, golf, table tennis and petanque outdoors as well as pool toys. Also just up the road in the village is a children’s playground. |
