Town: Croatia, Umag, UmagUmag is a small town on the north western coast of Istria. It is the westernmost city of Croatia. It is very close to Italy and Slovenia and it is a complex of 23 smaller villages.
It has population of 7769, and with municipal area 12901. Those are data from 2001. Like many other towns in Istria, Umag has multi-ethnic population. Croats are an absolute majority, but there live a lot of Italians, Serbs, Slovenians, and even Albanians.
Umag has rich history. It was mentioned for the first time in the 7th century by an anonymous citizen from Italian Ravenna, but had already existed in Roman times. Summers are hot and sunny, so while you are spending your holidays in Umag you don\'t have to worry about the whether. Winters are mild, but windy.
Umag is extremely strong tourist spot. It has eight bigger hotels, and some of them are very comfortable with extraordinary service and four stars. There are also a few smaller hotels. But main accommodation capacities are in the small apartments. Small apartments have also very good service, so if you choose that kind of accommodation, you won\'t regret. Apartments have high class. Also, there are a few hotel complexes with resort, so that proves that in Umag take tourism very seriously. Camp tourism is also very developed in Umag, some really beautiful camps could be found. Nautical tourism is also well developed, so you can stay in marina.
Something what would be very good that you attend while you are in Umag is tennis ATP tour, if you are there while it last. Numerous stars from world of tennis compete there. History core is located on peninsula which was separated from coast in the past. It is also good to see City museum. During summer, something is happening everyday, so everyone can find something for themselves.
