Description of objectFaja dos Padres is located on the south coast of Madeira, between Cabo Girao and Ribeira Brava, at the bottom of a steep cliff which rising about 250 m above this location.There are 8 houses: Casa do Barco, Casa do Marinheiro, Casas Jose Soldado I and II, Casa da Vinha, Casa Seifia, Casa Julia e Casa da Tia Maria. Each house is composed by: 1 twin bedroom (except Casa Seifia, wich has a double room); 1 bathroom; 1 sitting-room with 2 sofas, TV and kitchenette. On the terrace of Casa do Barco and Casa do Marinheiro there is a barbecue and in the others houses there is a shared barbecue. The Faja dos Padres has also a restaurant. Location of objectFaja dos Padres is located at the bottom of a 250-metre high sea cliff, on the south coast of Madeira Island.Fajas are flat lowlands formed by rocks that fall from the cliffs due to coastal erosion. Faja dos Padres was formed by one of those phenomena. The name Faja dos Padres derives from the fact that this location once belonged to Jesuit priests. In fact, in the 16th century, the Jesuits introduced here the famous Madeira malmsey wine. In this agricultural property and besides the vineyards many species grow, such as mango (over 20 varieties), avocado, banana, papaya, fig, passion-fruit, as well as, other exotic fruits. Guests are welcome to follow the agricultural work, walk along the property or just relax in the garden or beach listening to the sounds of the sea waves and birds. A pebbled beach borders the flat land from side to side, inviting to a swim in the water's year-round mild temperature. In the restaurant of Faja dos Padres guests are served dishes rooted in Madeira traditional cuisine, like tuna fish or limpets. Faja dos Padres, in fact, resembles an island inside another island. Access to Faja dos Padres is only possible by boat or panoramic lift. Access by lift is free of charge for guests staying at Faja dos Padres. The lift runs every day, except on Tuesdays, from 11h00 a.m. to 18h00 p.m. Outside these working hours, trips should be arranjed previously. Please note that to access the lift you will have to go down some steps. On arrival, guests should leave their luggage on the road level and call the lift operator to take care of it. Luggage goes down in the cargo lift and if possible it is delivered directly to the guests cottage. Town: Portugal, Faja dos Padres, Ribeira BravaRibeira Brava is a village on the southwest coast of the island with steep valleys on either side and is a very pleasant tourist stop. Its name “Ribeira Brava” came from the wild (“Brava”) river (“Ribeira”) that used to flow in this area and when the rain falls heavily, occasionally it still does.
