But the time when the country experienced a great fervor was undoubtedly the Middle Ages. For some documents we learn that the tenth century the village was employed by the Martinengo family, which, however, gave their feudal rights to the municipality of Bergamo, as written in a document dating from 1122. Two centuries later the country was at the center of the aims of the accounts Calepio which would subject the village and surrounding areas for a domain that lasted until the early nineteenth century, when they were dispossessed by the arrival of Napoleon Bonaparte. Recently the country has achieved a remarkable economic development due to the extraction of a type of stone, called just as the country, widely used in construction.
