Description of object
Ark İstanbul Apartments are placed in a registered historical building of second degree located in Karaköy - one of the most historical and characteristic quarters of İstanbul . The building is called Gümrük Han which means “custom-house”. Indeed, Gümrük Han since its construction in the late XIX. century has served as an Ottoman custom-house. Later, changing its function, it was divided in a number of offices for the trade of small construction material.
Ark İstanbul bought the building in 2007 after seeing its great potential for introducing its enchanting surroundings to the people all around the world. But what is so enchanting about this area? Even though Karaköy cannot be introduced as a “chic” quarter, it perfectly reflects the Genoese and Ottoman influence throughout the time. Just a ten minutes walk will bring to you a number of historical monuments and remainings such as Galata Tower (1348, one of the symbols of İstanbul), Arap Mosque (VI. century), Kurşunlu Han (XVI. century), ancient walls and many others…
Ark istanbul Apartments are placed just near the sea where Bosphorus connects to Golden Horn, so besides its cultural richness, its natural beauty is also worth to be seen.
