Le Portalet is part of the circular Boulevard which rings the old town. Hence the position of \'one foot in town, the other in the country\'.
Town: France, Provence-Gard, Uzes
Uzes is an absolute gem and to describe it would require a book! Suffice to say that it reeks of charm, has a history pre-dating the Romans and still to this day retains the evocative atmosphere of long gone times.
One can quite happily spend days strolling around the cobbled (traffic-less) streets and each time discover something new even though the town itself is so small, just 8500 inhabitants. Countless little cafes and eating places make progress rather slow......However, there is still every possible modern facility and a large dose of sophistication camouflaged behind the golden coloured sandstone facades.
Arrival and distances
Arrival day: negotiable Distance to next airport: Nimes 40 Km Distance to next trainstation: Avignon 35 Km Distance to next motorway: Remoulins 18 Km Distance to the sea: Mediterranean 60 Km
There are a number of internet places close by as well as cafés with a free wifi connection.
Regular buses run to Nimes and Avignon and other places so it is not strictly necessary to have a car althougn with the number of sights around the countryside, it would still be a bonus.
