Description of objectDo you know Tuscany? Are you looking for a special place well off the beaten tourist track, and yet not far from great culture and the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea? Are you looking for a hideaway in the back of beyond where 'Istrice' (porcupine) and 'Cinghiale' (wild boar) thrive, where streams do not dry out in summer and where the shadowy oak and chestnut forests provide an ideal breeding ground for mushrooms? A place where you can hike, ride a bike or a horse without being bothered by traffic? Where the cuisine is still down-to-earth and originally Tuscan without tourist distortion? This is exactly the place in the the Alta-Maremma where you find our Casa al Sole, a former “Podere” (farm house) of the 17th century converted into country style holiday apartments. Several other buildings, a pool, horse stables and a paddock are part of the setting.
'La Quercia' is one of three different size apartments provided with all necessary comfort. Each apartment has a kitchen, a bathroom, one or several bed rooms, a living room with an open fireplace, and they are all equipped with central heating. All apartments have their separate entrance and an outdoor pergola to sit in the shade. The property includes 5 acres of land with an olive grove, woods and a stream and there are many walking paths and romantic places in the shade inviting you to have a rest.
Location of objectThe Casa al Sole is situated just one kilometer west of Travale. In less or slightly more than an hour's drive, proud strongholds of the Renaissance epoch can be reached: Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra, Massa Marittima. Remains of the Etruscan civilization can be found at Populonia, Vetulonia and Saturnia at a similar distance. The pine bordered beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea near Follonica are only 50 minutes away. And a trip to the wine growing Chianti region, to Radda, Greve or Castellina in Chianti, will not take any longer.
