Description of objectMargaret and Keith offer accommodation to fisher people, holidaymakers and house hunters here in the hamlet of Tamisac, Champagnac-La-Rivière, Haute-Vienne. We are only 25 mins drive from Limoges Airport with regular flights from many UK airports.Our accommodation is a well-appointed gite,"La Vue", consisting of two bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities, sleeping up to 4 people. The large fully fitted kitchen/dining room is ideal to enjoy cooking all the local specialities. French doors from the kitchen lead into the garden with its beautiful view. The comfortable lounge with log burner and exceptional views across the rolling hills of the Limousin is an ideal place to unwind with a book if a relaxing day is called for. In the lounge there is a television, DVD and CD player with a selection of films and music. The French doors in the lounge lead to a terrace with table and chairs to enjoy your meals ‘al-fresco’. The terrace looks on to the garden with patio and bbq area. A complimentary welcome pack will be waiting for you, as well as a bottle of red wine and white wine, to get your holiday off to a perfect start. Visiting anglers will be provided with maps, or Sat Nav to guide them to various fishing venues, all local information, and details of permits etc. We have built up some excellent relationships with local fishery owners, who have some superb lakes to fish. Equally, rivers holding carp, pike, perch, zander and other species are not far away. We offer our guests the option of fishing tackle hire, both fly and coarse for a nominal weekly fee, in addition to fly casting tuition, if required, with one of the few UK qualified Fly-casting instructors in France, our neighbour Tony holds the STANIC (Trout) Qualification. We also have amateur archery equipment for our guests to use, two bikes to explore the stunning local area – we are only 2km from a disused railway line that runs from Chalus to Oradour-sur-Vayres and offers a gentle bike ride or walk for the less ambitious. We also provide boules, of course. For holiday makers, this beautiful area offers superb walks, many are well sign posted, and the quiet lanes and roads make cycling a joy. Canoeing can be tried at Aixe sur Vienne, just fifteen minutes drive away. There are also several horse riding facilities local to La Vue. For sightseeing, numerous chateaux are dotted around the area, with Chateau de Brie just 6km away. Of course, Limoges -famous for its pottery, is just 40 minutes drive. French markets, with a wide array of local produce are held on various days of the week in different villages. Superb local restaurants, lovely towns to wander around and supermarkets are a mere 5 kilometres drive from our base here in Tamisac a hamlet 1.3km from the village of Champagnac-La-Rivière which is situated on the River Tardoire where a lovely picnic area enables you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the river. The village has its own bar/café offering superb value for money meals, post office and bakers. A short drive from Tamisac are the towns of Chalus, Cussac, Oradour sur Vayres. Chalus - a quaint town famous for its connection with Richard Coeur de Lion (Richard the Lionheart) boasting several excellent restaurants, sightseeing, shopping, market days. Cussac – only five minutes drive from Tamisac to supermarket, garden centre, café/bars. Oradour sur Vayres – again only five minutes to a lovely little town with several restaurants with good reputations. Those of you who wish to visit the region to look for a new home will be well catered for as Margaret and Keith arrived in 2007 and have a wealth of knowledge which they can pass on to you. Location of objectThere are many ways of reaching us here in the Haute-Vienne. By car and ferry, aeroplane or train, or indeed a mixture.Many people visiting the Limousin opt for a flight from UK to Limoges Airport and then pick up a hire car at the airport. Limoges is a small provincial airport and you can see the car hire desk from the arrivals lounge, so you do not have miles to walk with suitcases to pick up your car. This all combines to make your arrival here very easy indeed. We are just 25 mins drive from Limoges Airport. This is an easy drive with no motorways and no routes through large towns as Limoges Airport is situated on the outskirts of Limoges itself in the French countryside. Town: France, Haute-Vienne, Champagnac-la-RiviereCHAMPAGNAC-LA-RIVIERE. Just 15 mins walk from your gite we have the river Tardoire which flows gently through a purpose built picnic area. The breeze rustles through the trees, the river burbles and there is some lovely shady areas to relax in with picnic tables. Around Champagnac-La-Riviere there are many lovely walks ,indeed the GR4 footpath runs through the village. There is gentle cycling to be found as we have a disused railway track with runs for over 12 km from Chalus - Oradour-Sur Vayres. This has a superb surface for walking or cycling. We offer guests the use of two bikes if you wish.
