We rented this 3 bedroom property for 7 nights during August 2015. We were tempted as a family of 6 by the remote location. It’s more like a cabin house with 3 bedrooms made of wood right at the highest point the road could take you. Our host; Mr. Sinan, made every effort possible to ensure our comfort starting with taking us up the mountain, down to pick some BBQ items, upto assistance with our car repair, currency exchange & some excellent restaurants recommendations.
What we liked:
Very secluded location at a real village. You won’t be bothered by anyone.
Very cold climate even when the rest of the northern hemisphere was complaining of a heat wave.
Friendly neighbors from whom village products can be bought directly (Yogurts, butter, eggs & milk).
Children can see how cows are milked & how every farm detail is managed. They can observe bird nests, squirrels, wild flowers with bees on top of them along with wild mushrooms growing of the garden chairs.
Mr. Sinan, though a professor of literature at the local university, is an excellent tour guide & a very helpful friend. He made sure all towels are new, the house was well stocked in tissue papers & different amenities, even the fridge had water, juice, biscuits & Turkish delight as a complement.
What we did not like:
The 8 KM road leading to the house. It was hard making the climb up the steep hills in our minivan. The spirit of adventure did not extend into the night so for us we had to go to bed early in order to avoid climbing up at night. Cattle & villagers trucks share the same road.
One bathroom with some plumbing issues that got fixed. The bedrooms run on the smaller side with somewhat old wooden furniture.
If you forgot something then it has to wait till tomorrow. No late night pharmacy or a corner store.
Just one bar of signal reception in our phones that soon disappeared if you place it over the table. We had Turk cell & we were told Avea is better but we did not try that.
No washing machine.
