The monastery is very grand. The buildings now constitute part of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Catania and have been beautifully adapted. The complex is huge. On the intelligent guided tour, one sees rather good Roman remains, developing cloister style, tea room for Grand Tourists, view of huge church of S. Nicolas from galleries, where the lava stopped and a magnificent baroque staircase.
