Description of objectThe ChateauOur chateau was once the property of King Francis I (1494-1547). The rear and side buildings were built around 1530. The main (front) house was built a few centuries later (around 1860). When you drive through the gate, entering our domain and viewing the chateau you will immediately sense the typical French atmosphere. Beside the chateau are some side buildings; including three horse stables, a small tower and an old farmstead. To the rear you will find an inner court which can be closed off. Within you will find high ceilings, beautiful old parquet floors and authentic mosaic floors, marble painted walls and antique fireplaces. The beautifully decorated hall gives access to the salon and the séjour (dining room) with its long dining table and 12 comfortable arm chairs. Both the dining room and the salon have large antique fireplaces. The Impressive staircases of sandstone lead to the upper floors, containing 5 bedrooms and 2 newly built bathrooms. Several of the bedrooms have a cabinet; a small closet with warm and cold water. On the main floor you will find another bedroom with adjoining bathroom. Here you will also find the separate toilet. The bedrooms have marble fireplaces and new very luxurious box spring beds (2007). Each of the rooms has it’s own specific character so everyone may find one to their taste. The new bathrooms were finished in the spring of 2007 and are furnished with luxurious design sanitary (Philipe Starck X-line), Dornbracht taps and relaxing rain showers. Les Bardons is set in a nice 20 acre park of grass- and woodland. It is delightful to wander through the garden with its lovely views and beautiful old trees. There are many nice spots where you can enjoy reading a good book and drink a delicious French wine or just be by yourself for a while. The Dining room (sèjour) The dining room has a large fireplace. The original mosaic floor is still intact and, together with the old chandelier, gives this room a special character.
