A visit to Poland is a possibility, with the Poland border lying at 4km away from Zaclér. The Golden Town Prague lies 165km away and is certainly worth a visit as well. The Giant Mountains are located in the north east of Bohemia and are stretched out over the border with Poland for a total distance of approx. 40 km. The average altitude of the 20 km wide mountain range is 1200m, with a couple of mountains that are much higher than that. With a 1602m altitude, the Snezka (located in the eastern part) is considered to be the highest one. Other peaks are the de Lucni hora (1555 m), the Studnicná hora (1554 m) and the Vysoké kolo (1506 m). The Broumov region is located in north east Bohemia as well. It is a charming valley surrounded with woody hills - beloved for its peace, beauty and unspoilt nature. The city Broumov is the cultural and economic centre. Interesting to know about this region is the fact that there has not been any industrial development through the years. You will be surrounded by clean air and unspoilt nature here. The Orlické Mountains ('Orlické hory') run into the Giant Mountains and belong to the smaller mountain ranges of the Czech republic. It consists of a merely continuously 50km long mountain ridge. Town: Czech republic, Riesengebirge , ZaclerZacler is a small town situated in the mountains, 12 km from Trutnov and 4 km from border to the Poland, on an ancient trade and military road running to Silesia through a fascinating valley wedged between mountains. By this road Jan Amos Komenský (Comenius), the teacher of nations, left his homeland unvoluntarily long ago. The first written record related to the town dates from 1334. Visitors to ´acléř can acquaint themselves with the eventful history of this region, its eminent personalities, as well as the lives of ordinary people in the town museum, situated in the building of a former court of justice located on the square. The squares dominant feature, the Baroque Marian column, is the work of the sculptor Jiří Pacák. The magnificent scenery of the ´acléř region offers its visitors a relaxing atmosphere as well as the opportunity to indulge in sports activities in every season of the year.Skiers can use two ski centres roughly 1,5 km from the Yellow Cottage during winter. The first one is more suitable for children but the other one with its 5 900 m of pistes will inspire even experienced skiers. Cross-country skiers can set off on well-maintained trails along the mountain ridges. During the spring, summer and autumn seasons the peaceful environment, picturesque countryside and fresh mountain air is the ideal place for hiking or bicycling. The nearby border crossing to Poland means that you can view the unfamiliar but beautiful panorama of the eastern Giant mountains and Sne¸ka from the north. Unlike with the “hustle and bustle” of the western and central Giant mountains here you can enjoy the unique feeling of freedom and space. Near the Yellow Cottage you can find tennis courts and a rehabilitation centre.
