Location of objectLocated in the small hamlet of Olivola, yet only five minutes drive from the village of Serricciolo with a selection of facilities including restaurant, bar, grocery shop, chemistry and post office.Just 15 minutes drive from the town of Aulla Town: Italy, Lunigiana, Olivola - AullaLunigiana - a magical place beginning with its name meaning - the 'land of the moon' reserved and charming, shows to its visitors different sights, clear and full of light, but also mysterious and secret… To find out its inner meanings, you need to abandon yourself to its beauty and follow the ways to the woods where the Liguri-Apuani people built the famous manhirs as to guard the pastures, or the paths to the little villages all around, dominated by more than 100 castles and by their severe profiles. The Lunigiana derives its name from the port of Luni, established by the Romans at the mouth of the River Magra. So rich and splendidly adorned with marble was this port, that the Normans destroyed it, mistaking it for Rome. Today you can see the ruins of this once great trading place. Historic sites are not restricted to Roman remains, however, as the Lunigiana is scattered with castles built in medieval times by the Malaspina family. Numerous smaller fascinating towns and villages where weekly markets and summer festivals abound. PONTREMOLI is located in the northern part of Lunigiana and is today a precious coffer of artistic and monumental memories. The castle of Piagnaro, situated at the top of the hill dominating the northern approach to Pontremoli, makes part of a system of walls and towers erected in defense of the city during its history. Beyond the castle, home of the museum of the statue stele,an anthropomorhic cult of stone divinity. From the III millenium before Christ, the statues represented male and female divinity, whose cult ended when the Romans conquered the region. we can find the Church of San Nicolň, the church of San Geminiano, patron of Pontremoli. In the center of the town, the two squares and the tower of Cacciaguerra remind to Guelfs and Ghibellines dispute. FIVIZZANO: Considered the Florence of Lunigiana. Castles, churches and noble palaces show it. Fivizzano gave itself to the Medici family in the XV century and remained in their possession until the come of the Lorena. The walls of the town were erected for order of Cosimo de' Medici in 1540. Fivizzano gave birth to Jacopo from Fivizzano, one of the first printer. EQUI TERME: An ancient hamlet set at the foot of the Apuane Alps. The spa town has a light scent of sulphur whose waters calms and said to have restorative and healing powers. There are also gravel walks to the waterfall and caves where Palaeolithic men and dogs were found. FOSDINOVO is found in the low course of the Magra river,Its imponent castle, perhaps is the best preserved. Some of the well-known places of interest are: CARRARA - In the Apuan Alps, the spectacular marble quarries offer an evocative sight. This precious white stone has been quarried since Roman times. Since then, it has been used for all sorts of different purposes - from simple objects to more famous works of art and architecture. In the art studios of Carrara, at the Marble Museum and Open Air Exhibition, it is possible to learn about the history and working of marble. LUCCA - The city with its appealing main streets is a meeting place full of shops and any trip would not be complete without a walk around the Lucca Curtains, its impressive ramparts with its tree lined promenade, offering fabulous views of the city. The annual music festival livens the main Piazza during September with renowned bands and artists. There is a large antiques market around the Duomo every third weekend of the month. A great way to see the town is to hire a bicycle, as most of the streets are traffic free. To miss Lucca would be a shame. The CINQUE TERRE (Five Lands) is a string of 5 fishing villages perched high on the Italian Riviera which until recently have only been linked by a mule track and accessible by rail or water. An ancient system of footpaths is still a good way to visit these villages or use the inexpensive ferryboats, which run a service from Lerici or La spezia at the same time taking in the Gulf of Poets. Breathtaking views of the coastline, medieval fortresses and vibrant colours make this a memorable day out or more. PORTOVENERE - situated between the Gulf of Poets and the Cinque Terre. One of the most romantic villages on the Italian Riviera, with its delightful harbour overlooked by a massive fortress and the church of San Pietro which was built on the site of a temple to Venus. The nearby coast is heavenly, (known as the Gulf of Poets) as Shelly, Lord Byron and D.H. Lawrence all have lived here at some time. It has opportunities for sailing, canoeing, snorkelling or just relaxing on one of the beaches hidden in craggy bays around Fiascherino or Tellaro. The easiest way to get around the gulf is by ferryboat, which runs between Lerici, La Spezia and Portovenere or on to the Cinque Terre (five villages strung along terraced cliffs looking out to the sea Arrival and distancesArrival day: negotiableDistance to next airport: Pisa 80 Km Distance to next trainstation: Aulla Lunigiana 10 Km Distance to next motorway: Aulla 10 Km Distance to the sea: Lerici 30 Km Distance to next shop: 4 Km Sport facilities nearbyCycling, Fishing, Horse riding, Hunting, Mountainbiking, Sailing, Skiing, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball,Theme of holidays
