Description of objectLe Tournesol is a charming Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the Gers. Known as the French Tuscany, it is famous for its Gastronomy and the infamous trio, the three muskateers! Armagnac, Duck confit, Foie gras, Melons and Garlic are the main produce in this area and the regions exquisite dishes and landscape reflects this.Le Tournesol Chambre d’hote is situated in the heart of Saint Clar, a picturesque village in the department of the Gers and only an hour’s drive from Toulouse airport and one hour and a half from the Pyrenees. Saint Clar is truly unique with its two arcaded squares, one with its Halle, home to the weekly produce market which has been trading since the early 17th century. Every Thursday the market springs to life with local fare being sold to locals and visitors alike. Traditional Saint Clar has two Churches with the first dating back to the 12th century, while the second was built in the 18th century. Le Tournesol Chambre d’hote in ideally situated in the centre of the village, watched over by both Churches. Le Tournesol bed and breakfast offers an idyllic retreat for a relaxed weekend away or the opportunity to immerse yourself in French culture. Location of objectThe Gers is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution in 1790 and is named after the Gers river. Located in south west France, the Gers is part of the Midi-Pyrenees region. The culture is largely agriculture, with great emphasis on the local gastronomic specialities such as Duck comfit, Foie gras, Armagnac brandy and Floc, Melons and Garlic.Saint Clar is in the area of Lomagne, a part of Gascony, home of the three musketeers. It is the region of good cooking, good living and beautiful landscapes. Town: France, South West France, Saint-ClarThe village of Saint Clar has two cafe bars, the first "Claude's" is situated on rue Gambetta leading to the Halle square. Every Thursday the local market swings into action and has been a part of the village’s tradition since the early 17th Century. Claude’s bustling cafe is frequented by locals and tourists alike and an ideal place to brush up on your French.The second is on the Place de Lomagne and is attached to the Pizzeria restaurant and the Rison Restaurant who serve a daily "Plat de jour" as well as a traditional la Carte evening and week-end menu. The village also boasts two Bakeries both producing delicious traditional breads and pastries an Ecomarche supermarket, which is well stocked with local wines and produce and is conveniently located next to the Post office. Saint Clar also has a Tabac/news agent, two chemists, 2 Doctors surgeries, a dentist and a Bank. The local rugby team "La Coeur de Lomagne" have recently merged with neighbouring Tournicoupe and play in the Armagnac bigorre region 2/3 serie. Saint Clar and the surrounding area have beautiful walks of varying lengths, some more challenging then others. If walking is not for you, we can provide you with bikes to explore the spectacular views of the roaming countryside.
