by Bram on 19.08.2013 We just spent 2 weeks in the house. For French standards (we are Belgian), the house is OK. Which means it\'s not as clean or modern/new as you would expect in other countries. The house is quite large, but the cleaning lady is used to giving it a rush job. Floors, beds, bathrooms were clean, but dust and dirt in corners, ceilings etc.. hadn\'t been cleaned for months. The window in our room was even missing a piece of glass, and during a heavy rainstorm, the livingroom had a pool of water in it!
The house sits next to an old, abandonned castle, i guess this house was the building where once the staff used to live, and is now turned into a vacation home. This means that the house is dominated by the castle. This overlooks the pool, and the castle\'s garden is taking up most of the space, so besides the pool, ther\'s not that much garden left for this house.
Swimming pool is ok, but when we stayed there, the filter system was broken, so we had to clean it manually with a kind of fishing net. Several complaints to the responsible people were unanswered, and on the day of our departure, we were given a hard time by a man working for the owner.. because we didn\'t tell anyone about the pool (answer your phone than!).
The garden is almost non-existing. Between the house and the pool you have a terrace, behind the pool is a small piece of \'garden\' full of weeds. We were adviced not to go there because there was a second, unused pool further down the garden, which could be dangerous for kids.
So bottom line: we payed about 3.500 EUR per week, which is way to much for this house. We have spent 8 vacations in the south of France, in different houses. So we can compare quality and pricings very well. And this isn\'t value for money. If you can rent this for 2000, or 2500 max, you get wat you pay for, but not a dime more!
