| Olympos is a small village at the foot of the Beydaglari National Park, 1 hours drive west of Antalya or 8 hours drive south/east of Istanbul. It is an amazing ancient city renowned as an archeological site, where the hills meet the ocean. Olympos is the perfect setting for any holiday maker seeking sun, nature and adventure or alternatively a quiet escape for exploring the local ruins or walking along the Lycian Way towards nearby Adrasan. Olympos is fascinating, not just for its ruins that are fragmentary and widely scattered amidst the thick greenery of wild grapevines, flowering oleander, bay trees, wild figs and pines, but also for its archeological site just inland from a beautiful beach along the course of a stream (Akcay river) which runs through a rocky gorge. Close by there is also the mysterious site of Chimaera, an eternal flame which still springs from the earth not far from the city. |
