Description of objectVilla Simone is a stone-built house made before 1928 (year that was first registered) with original hand made pebble floors, last restored in 1954, as written on the living room floor. The last renovation finished in 2011.The house consists of one main two-storey building, one big interior courtyard and two small exterior rooms. In the ground floor there is the living room area, the kitchen, one of the two main bedrooms and one of the three bathrooms. The large living room offers a discrete comfort adjusted to the village’s style with many of it’s original furniture, a stone built fireplace and a big dining table enough for eight persons. The kitchen is fully equipped with all devices for a comfortable stay and with direct access to the living room and also to the courtyard table. The interior courtyard leads to another bathroom and the old kitchen, now transformed into a built-in barbeque. The privacy that the courtyard has to offer makes it ideal for sunbathing or outdoor dining. The first floor has an internal veranda overlooking the living room, the master bedroom with it’s balcony from where one can glance at the sea and yet another bathroom. On this level, there is another sitting room area, designed for reading and relaxing over an aperitif with soft music and candle light. The house also has a washing machine, a dish washer, free Wi-Fi, a telephone for incoming calls, a clothes press, a satellite TV, an i-pod docking station and generally all facilities that can make your holiday truly unforgettable. Location of objectVilla Simone is located in the traditional precinct of the old village of Koskinou in the island of Rhodes. The village is less than ten minutes drive from Rhodes Medieval and New town and three minutes from the near-by Kalithea beach. It is famous for it ’s local sweets ‘melekounia’ (honey and sesame sweets), it’s wood bakeries and it’s many taverns with local food.Town: Greece, Koskinou, koskinouKoskinou village exists of 2 parts: the old village/town, and around it the new area. As our interest with renting, and in general, only goes out to traditional, authentic places, we only speak about the old part in this website. In the old part (which is a village of its own), the houses date back to the 17th,18th and 19th century. Like in many places in Greece about 40 years ago people started abandoning their old stone family houses, to move into modern cement buildings out of the village centers or creating new centers. The houses then became ruins and were rediscovered and bought in their original state by foreigners, Greeks from Athens and some times local Greeks. They renovated these beautiful houses and recently all kinds of committees are being formed to keep or bring back the houses in the authentic state. Typical for the village is the sala (living room) with a big stone arch (Kamarra) through the middle to make a semi separation. Another thing that is typical are the chochlakia, floors in which pebbles (found on the beach) are laid, stone by stone into a typical, magnificent mosaic floor. These floors nowadays cost a fortune to produce. Again a typical thing of the houses in Koskinou is that they have wooden sofas in the sala, high raised platforms, on which one or 2 mattresses were laid, for sleeping or where they used to drink tea. The last typical thing for Kosknou are the courtyards surrounded by high walls for total privacy and closed off by iron handmade doors with a beautiful design in it.The streets of Koskinou are covered by chochlakia (pebbles), tiles and marble.
