Hiking and cycling

Between Vogel, the mountain that lends its name to the vast highland ski slope, and Črna prst, far away on the eastern part of the Lower Bohinj mountain crest, there rises, elegantly and in geometric form, one of the most beautiful mountain pyramids in Slovenia: Rodica, 1966 metres high. From the top, it offers a view of Bohinj lake in beautiful weather, as well as of Triglav and the Adriatic sea. You are invited to take a lovely hiking trip to Rodica from the village of Grant , which does require some physical fitness. Apart from hiking, cycling is also an interesting activity, with forest paths and off road terrain offering an enjoyable experience.

Several hundred-year-old lime tree
Only a little less than a kilometre away, in the neighbouring village of Rut, there is a mighty lime tree (Tilia platyphyllos) standing before St Lambert church, one of the thickest and oldest Slovenian lime trees. Its widely ramified and beautifully formed treetop is supported by a trunk with a circumference of 8 metres. According to legend, the tree is over 800 years old. The Rut lime tree was declared a natural monument.
The opportunity to pick mushrooms
In the forests above the villages Grant and Rut, mushroom amateurs will come into their own. Among numerous edible mushrooms, they will find primarily Chanterelle, Boletus aestivalis and Boletus edulis.

The place also offers numerous possibilities to spend your free time actively, among which skiing and mountaineering from Rodica, hiking, climbing, mountain running, cycling, etc., are the most frequently selected activities. As an additional offer, there is a swimming pool in the village of Grant, where you can cool down during the summer months. In the winter, you have the possibility of driving approximately 30 kilometres in your personal vehicle to go skiing on the Soriška planina ski slope.
However, the most important fact is that the village of Grant is located far from the cities and their hustle and bustle, thus allowing you to genuinely enjoy your holiday rest.

Grant is a small village at the foot of Rodica, marked by a picturesque, idyllic landscape. It is a small dispersed settlement founded by Tyrolean colonizers. It lies high above Baška grapa, on the sunny side of the gentle slopes of Rodica.
