Description of objectCairn cottage is a traditional stone and slate Cornish end of terrace which reputedly was originally a carthouse. The cottage is located in the heart of the village and is convenient for all local amenities.The stable door opens into the modern kitchen, with stone floor and light beech units. and is equipped with a fridge freezer, microwave, electric hob, fan oven and toaster. The kitchen opens out into a dining area which has an open stairway and access to the garden room. The dining room has a folding dining table to allow maximum use of space. A generous window with a wide sill looks out onto the drive. Both the dining room and the spacious living room have exposed beams, and the lounge has a stone fireplace. There is a small TV with Freeview, DVD player and an assortment of DVD's, 3 seater sofa and 2 chairs. The back door leads directly out onto the patio area. The garden room, which has an original, exposed stone wall has sliding doors to the enclosed patio garden and offers two comfy armchairs to sit in whilst whiling the time away. The open stairs lead up to a small landing with exposed rafters and an original exposed stone wall. The family bathroom has a modern white suite, and separate shower cubicle, chrome radiator, laminated floor and sloped ceiling with original beams. The larger of the two bedrooms has wooden flooring, a double bed and walk in wardrobe. It offers pleasant views over the patio garden and across fields. Bedroom two also has wooden flooring; this is a single room with built in wardrobe and overlooks the main village street. To the rear of the cottage, there is an enclosed patio area with raised walled gardens with Palm trees. There is also a small grassed area beyond the patio. There are several, free roaming peacocks that frequent the garden and patio; you may be lucky enough to find a feather or two they've left behind! The gated drive is shared with a neighbouring property but there is car parking available for one vehicle. Location of objectThe Cottage is situated approx 50yd south of the crossroads in St. Merryn, opposite Malcolm Barnecutt Delicastessan.Town: Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Cornwall, St. Merryn PadstowSt Merryn is a popular village on the North Cornwall coast. It is situated approx 3 miles from the pretty, harbour town of Padstow, with it's lobster hatchery and famous Seafood restaurant, and approx 11 miles from Newquay with it's international airport. The Cathedral town of Truro is approx 40 minutes drive and the South coast can be accessed within around half an hour.The village itself is situated around a bustling crossroads. There is a post office, newsagent, 2 convenience stores, surf shop, garage, delicatessan, 2 pubs, 2 churches, vet, wine bar, chip shop, chinese takeaway and 3 restaurants. The village is famed for it's 'Seven bays for seven days' as it is within minutes of seven spectacular beaches, each offering it's own unique character, from the large natural swimming pool at Treyarnon, to the challenging surf at Constantine. There are numerous surf schools operating locally, we have two excellent golf clubs within a few miles and there is a riding school just outside the village. The area offers spectacular walks along the cliffs, up to Trevose head and around the round hole at Trevone. The coast line is rugged and the views are stunning, especially as the sun goes down. children will spend hours poking about the rock pools and splashing in the streams, whilst the whole family can get to grips with the art of body boarding. The Camel trail, a disused rail-line which skirts along the Camel estuary from Padstow to Bodmin, is a must for those who fancy a walk or gentle cycle; bicycles can be hired in Padstow. The summer season always offers a huge array of local events, from garden shows to carnivals, bingo to steam rallys. Rock and Daymer bay can be easily accessed by ferry or water taxi from Padstow and there are speed boat rides, pleasure cruises and fishing trips for those with sea legs.
