Description of objectThe cottage 'La Garrigue' is situated on a huge estate stretching across more than 17,000 sqm and is therefor very suitable to allow children to behave freely - though open fire is strictly forbidden. Scattered across the landscape are some neighbouring houses, sufficiently far off to experience real silence and tranquillity. After all, the next house is about 80 m and the country road approximately 500 m away. Built in the late 1970s, it isn't very young anymore but it is nevertheless equipped with modern building services (heating, air conditioning, washing machine and refrigeration). There are 2 bedrooms, one with its own sink and each equipped with a double bed and separate mattresses. In the living room there is a convertible sofa, suitable to accommodate 2 further persons. All necessary kitchenware and household aids and appliances are available, as well as spices and cleansers.
Location of objectFrom the village Siran a narrow winding road (D 56) leads to the 'Curiosité de l'Auriole'. After 5 km, still before the Curiosité, an unpaved path turns into the scrubland called garrigue, the typical vegetation of the Languedoc. Here the cottage 'La Garrigue' is waiting for you with a stunning view of the Minervois and the Corbières, down to the Pyrenees.
Town: France, Minervois, SiranSiran, a picturesque wine village with 600 inhabitants is situated at the foot of the Montagne Noire. Apart from a bakery, a grocery store and a post office, you can find here 3 restaurants. 5 km away, there is a big lake, where swimming and windsurfing are possible. It's the same distance to the supermarkets. Not far from here, a golf course will be built in the near future. The surroundings are known as the Land of the Cathares with its splendid monuments as Quéribus, Peyrepertuse and many others more. It is not far to the Pyrenees and to Spain, Barcelona is reached in a 3 hours ride. Trips to Minerve (after which the Minervois is named, 10 km) and to the world cultural heritage sites Canal du Midi (5 km) and the Cité of Carcassonne (35 km) - are considered as a must.
